I have a new phone. I've tried to connect via Bluetooth in the car but the handset can't 'see' the car. The old handset worked fine. Any suggestions please.
Perhaps stating the obvious here, but if the old phone worked then it's not a car problem. Suggest you actively search from the phone and the car at the same time, usually this triggers the phone to become live.
Might be worth checking the phone manual on Bluetooth connectivity.

Thanks for your suggestions. The solution was to delete the old phone first. This couldn't be done whilst the split screen was on display. So with help from the stealers, the new phone now connects with the car.
So basically the answers were here but you have the spilt screen on the iDrive and couldn't unpair/delete the phone due to this? How strange. The split screen just allows you to have two different options open.
However glad to hear it's sorted and I'm sure there will be others with the same issue.
A lot of us needed to remove our old phones last year when the iPhone 6 launched as iPhone paired to the car which also were on iCloud were causing the issue so you could only pair after removing the old phone from the iCloud and ideally deleting the previous iPhone from the car.
