Cheers Skelter some sound info there :thumbsup: it's a high miler at 122k but with a full bmw service history. If she's a keeper I will hardly do any miles in her as with previous cars I tend to spend more time cleaning them than driving them, lol.

The drains are one of first jobs and found a very helpful guide on here thanks to you guys. As the car will be stored outside for the moment I will also be getting a car cover for it.

So the roof was originally grey? I will give it a good clean will look up how to in the detailing section as Iv only cleaned vinyl roofs before the material on the Z4 I'm guessing is mohair so will need a more gentle clean?

Also I wish to add that have had many cars over the years this being my first bmw and I'm very impressed with the build quality so far.

Yeah you could get beige, black and grey roofs when new. The grey ones suffer from fading due to the UV rays and they end up going green. It's not mould, it's just the colour of the fabric.

Bit crap really, only way to sort it is dye or a new roof fabric. Your one doesn't look too bad though so i'd be happy to keep it as that.

Interesting. Attempted the sound generator mod on my 2.2 but cabin noise didn't appear to be an issue for BMW on this particular engine - it appears that I don't have that pipe with the sound deadening! Full circle rear light mod sounds very doable however, must have a go.

It's black now mate :poke: I keep thinking about selling the hardtop to pay for the red roof, but then I think nahhhhhhhhh.
 
Started to clean the interior today and where the centre console goes up there's a lever you pull and a flap comes down to reveal cd disc changer but higher up the console there is another lever yet when pulled nothing happens :-/ am I doing something wrong?

that was used for the manual roof i believe.... it doesn't do anything on auto roofs....

That's ok then as I thought something was broken! Thank you for the reply.


Another thing I noticed today I checked the rear light bulbs some needed replacing others just cleaned very easy to do also changed rear number plate bulbs for LEDs again very easy but how on earth do you get to the front headlight bulbs? Wanted to change the side light bulbs but there's no way I can get my hand in there!! :|

You need to turn the wheel full lock to which ever side your working on, I.e full left lock if your doing passenger side, it gives u much more room to manoeuvre, then use a flat head or a pound coin to undo the small lugs on the top access panel (the bottom access panel are for the fogs/air ducts on //M) then unclip the metal bar and the rear cover comes out and u can access the bulbs from there

Yes I heard nothing but good things about Glipestone leather products I used them on my TT leather seats and gave great results. I thing I have learnt is only treat the leather when the temperature is warm so the leather is more subtle.
