New Owner, little late saying hello!

Hi Everyone,

I've actually had my 03 Sapphire Black, 3.0 Z4 since May, and have been taking some very useful tips from this forum, but hadn't officially said hello.

It came with heated memory seats, PDC, Xenons and Carver audio.

So far I've added a stubby, ZHP, AUX In and a USB charge port (turned on and off from a switch with a halo LED, fitted in the cigarette holder bit of the ashtray and run back to the rear centre storage bit), set of Eagle F1s and new grab handles. I've got cruise control and a ///M MFSW (with newley refurbed trim) ready to fit and have all the white LEDs necessary to change the colour of the dials (just waiting on a diffuser for the mileage LCD screen).

I'm planning to refurb the wheels (can't decide whether to keep the current colour combo or go all silver), fit a Dice mediabridge, change the radio for the newer E86 MP3 version (I've already got the black vents) and get some heated sports seats (all when my bank balance allows).

I've also managed to cure a wiper problem where they wouldn't return to the correct place, following some useful guides on here.

Absolutely loving the Z and this forum costs me more and more each month with the mods I stumble across.

welcome, great looking zed...you're right about the spiraling costs for mods...I had every intention of doing sweet f.a with mine and I'm now about £1500 in with more planned :D

Hi and welcome

Bit confused with some of your mods. Have you fitted angel eyes (halo) and what does the diffuser screen do?

Also for reference E86 = coupe, E85 = roadster nothing to do with facelift. Might help you later

Been busy then Tom - welcome to the Forum.

Take a look through the Members Zed post to see lots of Zeds and wheel colour options - might give you some ideas for your wheels.

Hi Tom, nice looking motor you've got there . How about the stealth look black on black ,not original but imho looks great,oh and Welcome :driving:

Cheers guys, will be having a look at those threads for colour ideas. These cars are great for little mods (which I wasn't expecting actually).

srhutch, yeah those probably weren't the best descriptions I could have given.

The halo bit refers to one of these buttons:

mounted here:

which turns the USB charging port I put in on/off. I decided on this over ignition switched incase I needed to leave anything on charge when the car is off.

The diffuser will change the colour of the LCD screen (below) in the cluster from orange to white. Although this is partially done when you change the LEDs there is a thin orange sheet of diffuser plastic on the back of the screen which stops it being fully white (like on an ///M cluster).

Hope that makes it a bit clearer. Thanks on the e86 front aswell, probably will help my searches!

Hi Tom and welcome.

You can't go wrong with a black roadster.

You would ordinarily receive a mild scolding for joining us so late after buying the car, but your post does suggest some extensive Z-related activities and you did post a nice pic, so you're let off!

Enjoy :driving:

That will be one of only a few cluster colour changes done on here. Sure folk will appreciate further details on that when you do it.

Black does look rather good in the photos

Cheers for welcome everyone, I will post a bit more information when I get round to doing the cluster colour change!
