Issigonis must be spinning in his grave

German, elitist, and you lot £26k?.

A long way from humble mans transport outside every woodcutters cottage

You probably know a lot about cottaging but that doesn't count

Is the new one not a three pot?
Now you are winding me up!!

I have just checked you are correct it is a 3 pot

My 520d helped me realise in the engine stakes that you always get what you pay for...I will be staying well away from a 3 pot mini engine!! :o

All joking aside I bet its a great engine as long as you don't care much about driving & want 200 mpg!!

The 675cc three pot in my bike is an epic motor (and sounds glorious), so three cylinders isn't always a bad thing! :D

From what I've read the new three pot in the Mini is a nice engine, and sweeter than the BMW 4 cylinder in the Cooper S?

Sounds good

I just need to go with the times & not live in the past & appreciate V8`s & the like because to be fair they are dead & as far away from the future as ever...I need to get myself bang up to date I reckon & start appreciating economy & efficient engines that is the way forward for sure. :)

Don't get me wrong mate, I love the bigger engines (the bike example was slightly tongue in cheek as they're a completely different beast to a car), but like you say they're fast becoming a thing of the past!

Great cars Minis. I have three now. Mini Cooper R50 Mini challenge race car. Cooper S R53 track car and just picked up a 14 reg Cooper S roadster today for my daughter. Not as quick as the Zed but corner like they're on rails.
