Hey Everyone

I recently joined as I'm currently looking to buy a Z4.

Tomorrow I am going to view a 2004 2.5L Z4 which has covered 50,300 miles which has full BMW service history etc, and has just been serviced by BMW.

It's at Saab garage and I think it was a trade in.

My question is what should I be looking for when checking the paperwork..? What should have been done and when?

Any info would be much appreciated

Hi and welcome, check out Alanj's Buyers check list

Thanks Redzedfour thats a very useful link!

Is there a link to a service schedule?

e.g. at 40,000 the belts should be changed etc.. thats what I really would like to know.

As my only concern is why would you trade a car in straight after a service which is in as good condition as this one?

M54 engines have chains as opposed to belts, so don't need changing

If you can afford the insurance look for a 3.0 as they come with a lot more kit as std ,plus a six speed box.As soon as you have got used to the 2.5 you will have wished you had bought a 3.0.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Just a few more questions... what's the difference between the standard sound system and the Symphony pack? as it has it fitted.

Also, did all of the 2.5L have a limited slip diff. fitted as standard?

I want to do a few checks on the car, to check mileage is accurate outstanding finance etc.. Who is the best to use..?

Thanks again

There isn't a Symphony pack so I suspect you are reading a poorly researched advert. There are a couple of hifi upgrade options, 10 speakers and an amp.

Only the Z4M has a limited slip diff fitted, the rest are open diffs.

Thanks for the information, only going on the what I was told by the man at the garage. Apparently it was the garage owners wife's car for the past 4 years.

Checking the advert it states "premium sound system", I was told it was the symphony pack.

So it doesn't have have a limited slip diff, not the end of the world but might give me room for a haggle on the price
