New member

Hi all, actually not quite a new member as I was here a decade ago as a Z4 coupe owner. After various other cars I've returned to zed ownership with a Z4 2.2 (e89?) 59 plate. It's good to be back in every sense.

A quick question. On start up the instrument panel says "Service" in red. I bought it from a dealer who said he'd service it before I collected it. Am I right in thinking "Service" should be in amber and say how long until the next service?

Welcome back.

There was a 2.2i E85 but BMW stopped making them in 2005 so I'd guess your 59 plate is a 23i E89 with the folding metal roof.

I'd expect it to display a mileage, and probably a month/year date for the next service when you start it. Maybe the dealer didn't reset the OBD, or maybe didn't actually do the service? :(

Thank you. I've looked into it a bit further and it seems that the service the selling dealer arranged was actually just an oil change and the red service symbol refers to unchanged brake fluid. The dealer has been very good and agreed for my local garage to do this at his expense.

So nice to be back in a car with 6 cylinders!
