Hi all,

been reading the odd post on here for a few months - just joined as thought might be easier if I can post and you seem like a good lot!

I've had my coupe since end of December 2012. 2007 plate, only things I have had done is the roof in vinyl gloss black, some leather repair, personalised plate and that's about it.

it cost me more than I wanted (as got from a BMW dealer) but mileage was only 23k - ive since hit 30k already, as I use it even for long halls instead of getting a hire car from work, as I enjoy driving it!

Just bought some 107 style alloys to get refurbed in gloss black, and may get the current BBS wheels refurbed as well.

First BMW, quite standard spec but got no complaints. originally wanted the roadster, but the boot space and shape of the coupe blew me away (plus ive come from owning an Alfa (Brera) Spider for 6 days before it fell apart and may of put me off convertibles for life...).

thinking about going to non runflat tyres, as the ride can be a bit too stiff with a full tank, luggage and 16 stone of me behind the wheel!

When I get the new alloys on, will get some more photos uploaded. (vinyl was done for £90 by a local shop, done in a day - perfect work (no imperfections)).

Im not great at mods etc, so if I decide to do anything im guessing I will have to top people in the forums for info!

Cheers,

Austin

Welcome to the site Austin, the coupe in my opinion looks amazing in silver, really stylish, lots of info here on the various tyre options and you will notice a big difference straight away once you ditch the runflats!...for what its worth I recommend Goodyear Eagle F1 as a quiet tyre with great wet grip.

Welcome Austin - great choice of car and colour lol

Is your back window tinted black too - or is it standard?

Gloss black roof looks great - I've been thinking about this for mine

Agree with previous views on getting rid of the run flats

love it, looks almost like mine. thinking of doing the same to my roof. wrap looks good, will you do mirrors to match or black rims will be the matching factor?

looking forward to more pics with bbs rims!

@Spikey - his window looks like factory tinted, mine looks identical and its not a film. imho you need to have tinted rear hatch window to pull off gloss black roof.

Hi thanks guys.

yeah, factory tinted rear and rear side windows. thinking about getting the wing mirrors done now!

(not sure whether to go vinyl or spray shop)

just given it a clean today and seriously looking into getting a set of alloys ready and refurbed with non runflats asap, ready to put on as soon as warranty ends and its been MOT'd (so i dont get grief or have an awkward 'runflat benefits' chat with the garage...).

my bonnet may need a respray as I hit the a19 during its 3 mile gravel section - hate it when they do that - might get that vinyl covered as well (gloss black) if my road usage goes up.

Main reason for me getting the roof done, is if you can see in the pics - my neighbour has a van. my previous car (RX8) had marks on the roof from another neighbours cat jumping off the van and to my car and vice versa.

thought getting a bit of vinyl on would be perfect as if it gets badly marked, just get it redone (getting clear can go yellowish over time, so went for black and think it paid off).

Welcome.

Think the black and silver looks spot on. 8)

I'd probably wrap the mirrors to begin with (that way you can put them back easily if you don't like them?).

If you think they work, then get them sprayed properly.

Hope you have plenty of gravel free miles ahead. :driving:

Cheers.
