Hi all,
Im shortly going to be on the hunt for an E85 3.0L manual.

Impending building work on our house has led me to put my current car up for sale (Porsche 996 C2 with aero kit), I love this car but want to put some of its value into the extension (very grown up I know)!

I have always been an active member on forums such as 911Uk M3cutters and e36coupe so once I have swapped cars will probably be on here a lot.

I am an automotive engineer and work in base engine design for one of the large OEM's so love to get my hands dirty playing with my cars.

Ive never owned a z before so looking for any pointers on common things to look out for and desirable options on any perspective vehicles.

Previous cars have included 2x e46 M3's 1x e36 M3 a total of 7x 3 series (e46 & e36), boxsters and 911s - Im hoping the Z4 will be a fun little car - Im guessing everyone on here would agree

Anyone know of any nice cars coming up for sale? Obviously Ive not sold mine yet but only want to pay up to 5k on the z (potentially less on something thats not perfect or a little leggy).

Thanks
Jay

Welcome to the forum, you will be able to find a 3.0 roadster for around the 5k mark - keep an eye on the Forum's Market Place: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=41

Welcome from a fellow former e36coupe forum member! Sounds like you've had a good few bmws. I've owned a Boxster S and found my Z4 3.0si much more fun and engaging, hopefully you'll enjoy it! If you know your way around a 3 series you shouldn't have much trouble working on a zed, pretty similar apart from having to be an open heart surgeon to change a light bulb! I'm sure you'll find this a fantastic forum as I have over the last few years, some great guys here and a wealth of knowledge.

Great, thanks.

Sounds promising regarding the boxster s comparison as I've always said my boxster s was one of the best cars I've ever owned.. maybe the best.
