Hi everyone, well after being an MG man for a long, long time and wanting to upgrade my car I finally succumbed and much to the dismay of my MG owner’s club friends decided to go for a E85, BMW Z4.

Wow what a difference, it’s so quiet for a start, so smooth, I went for the 2.0SE, 6 speed box, 55 reg, registered very early 06, what a power difference and comfort, and the automatic soft top well I’m just totally smitten.

Have been looking at your forum for several weeks you seem to have lots of knowledge on here.

Just to be a bit cheeky I have a question already, in the boot I have found 2 (1 left hand, 1 right hand) parts that are plastic type material, covered on one side with the same material as the soft top, what are they for and where do they fit?

Thanks

Steve

Welcome and enjoy! must be a world apart from your old car!

Sounds like you are describing the soft top covers?

Hey, firstly welcome Steve & if you've been hovering you'll know :worthless:

Sounds like they could be the covers that go over the hood when it's open behind your shoulders, but we would need to have a peek... open a Photobucket account & upload some pics

Welcome to the forum

If they are what it's in that pic, Bing will buy them off you :)

Indeed, when they get tiresome I would like first dibs please ... Only unbroken though, £60 delivered

Welcome to the forum Steve

Glad you are enjoying your Zed. :)

As a newish owner myself, I can totally relate to your comments on the refinement, low noise levels etc.

Build quality should also be vastly improved from the MG as well.

Hope you have plenty of happy miles ahead. 8)

Hi Guys as requested a photo, very very pleased with the car so far apart from one thing, had to order a new passenger wing mirror glass Thursday evening after the original one decided it didn't want to be part of the car anymore in the middle of Dartmoor, luckily no damage done to the paint work when it fell off, must admit I was a little surprised, I thought those sort of things only happened on MG's

All sorted now, new one arrived this morning and was fittted within minutes.

Those parts I asked about I have found out that they are fitted when a hard top is used, it looks like the original owner also had the hard top when the car was new, its on the reciept.

Spent half an hour yesterday trying to find the oil dip stick that doesn't exist  I'm sure i'm not the only one that has fell for that.

Not the first to look for a dipstick

The side covers really smarten the car up when the roof is down IMO, as well as for use with the hard top.
