Hey guys, been a busy couple week. Girlfriend had her heart set on new kitchen so after multiple joiners and company marching through our house and us going and viewing door and testing cabinets finally completed today ( minus tiling, painting and new floor )

So in last 6 weeks i had to get building warrant ( for removal of non load bearing wall ), rip out half the wall so could get new combi boiler installed. Get joiners out remove the rest of the wall and remove another section of another wall, plaster, more sockets, plumb in my fridge. Safe to say the house has been a warzone and its hard work going to someone else's house for 2 weeks to be cooked for and have takeaway.. drains life out of you

anyways thought i would share pictures of it :) let me know what you think

carcasses are bespoke 18mm rigid colour coded integrated Hettich Softclose hinges -http://www.stevenswood.co.uk/stevenswood-kitchens/sixteen-top-tips.html
worktop's are 40mm solid oak ( full 4m length ) and 2x 60cm sections with matching upstands
belfast sink and swan tap with ceramic handles
integrated dishwasher, washing machine and recyling bins

just waiting on my cooker which is delayed, which is a Stoves Richmond 100cm Range in Jalapeno Red :) :)

got some painting to do this weekend, then get tiler in to tile ( going to metro style tiles ) then medium oak flooring to be fitted..

you don't even want to know how many units we had to go and see and walk around with them, knock, feeling weight of them, checking thickness, finish, grain :headbang: :headbang: i could probably sell someone a kitchen
 
I like those surfaces.
They would probably last a century even if you used them for cutting on.
I bet you don't though. :)
 
i put my jumper on the worktop yesterday and i was close to being decapitated by my girlfriend lmfao

we had about 1 meter of worktop left over so joiner going to chamfer edges and leave us them to use as chopping blocks/boards :thumbsup:

has to be oiled every couple months i think ( not my job )

LOL.... a few things.....

1. Great work, looks like it's gonna look great, looking forward to seeing the results!
2. This really isn't going to help in terms of getting rid of "kitchen spam!"... LOL
3. Love the slogan "need help getting rid of your old boiler" on the van... they could be assassins or divorce lawyers!!! :rofl:

Yeah they guys who did boiler were really good. Don't know what they do afterhours regarding getting rid of old boilers..

they guarantee not to leave a mess, guarantee to turn up when they say and be finished when they say and if they don't they pay for a meal at a restaurant for you.

we just went with them because they offered best overall service, not the cheapest but reputable. Boiler cost £2300 fitted including 9 new radiator valves and a wireless themostat + magnaclean filter. Then i got £400 from boiler scrappage scheme so cost me £1900 and still waiting on the £100 cashback from Vaillant :)

cheers guys can't wait for my cooker.. 7 burner and 4 oven.. for me and my girlfriend lmfao sorted for house partys though :thumbsup:
 
looks great, like the units.

we had a new kitchen last year, powder blue units with 50mm oak worktops. the oak tops are really nice, I just re-oiled at 6 months. some people tried to warn me off having them, too much maintenance blah blah blah, but we have been very pleased with them.
 
We went through something similar at Christmas, looks like a good turnaround! My other half works in the kitchen industry in their family business which is a kitchen manufacturing company and deal with Second Nature, along with a few others.

We settled on Oak and Painted Oak from Burbidge in the end with Silestone work surfaces and a Zebrano wood seating area :

We created a new doorway, had ceilings down and replaced the down lighters with LED's, massive amount of work involved, but like you're seeing well worth it when you're done!
 
Looks ace.. brilliant size of kitchen if I could of made mine any bigger I would have
