(new) Headlight options

Hi,

My drivers headlight needs replacing and at £600 that's not a hell of a deal.
So, what other options are there?
Ebay seems to come up around £150 each for used and there's no guarantee that the light wont fail like mine has (lens seal has perished).

...or I could get some aftermarket lights, but I haven't managed to find any UK RHD ones for sale that look decent (google just seems to point to youtube videos, or forum posts not shops).
Can anyone recommend any aftermarket lights?

Thanks

Hi Mac,

I tried to word my request very carefully so that I wouldn't get this response ;) ...but looking again I didn't do a very good job

Many thanks for your assistance, but that isn't the issue that I have.

you could cut them open and do the LED angel eyes then reseal them, speak to Ranski on here as hes done many.

As I see it you can either:
- buy new (ouch!)
- get 2xcite ones (AE's not very bright?)
- buy used, split and install, then add new seal and rear panel?

Unless anyone else has more ideas.

I did ask about splitting the lights as you can do it with other lights, but a few people said it can't be done with the Hellas....

Reckon I'll keep my eyes peeled for some on eBay. Are they all the same post facelift (clear indicators)? IE 85/86?

You can split them as I have done them myself, but you need to cut them open with a dremel.

The 2xcite ones look terrible on the car. The 'drl' at the top of the headlamp makes the car look like it has some weird facial disease. Not a good look.

The 2xcite lights are fine, there are quite a few on here that have them including me . I don't use the the top light and the angels lights would have been a better choice for DRLs but they are not bright enough . They suit the look of my car and I'm more than happy with them.

it all depends on if you want to retain the OEM look - if you source the right parts for the cut and shut, aswell as do a neat job it will look near factory standard and very bright even in strong sunlight

I need a how to for this job guys! :D
It's reassuring it can be done, just maybe beyond my skills /time right now.

Hopefully eBay will come up trumps
