gannet said:ok, but doesn't that depend on how you set it up?
I have a googlemail address lets say [email protected] and my domain address [email protected] which is set to simply set to forward to [email protected]
I also have an actual account [email protected] through which I can send email - and set googlemail up to use that to send mail from [email protected] (or indeed any other of my domains).
In effect nobody even gets to see that I have a googlemail address as I don't use googlemails smtp servers...

So you have two biggles.com addresses, and one gmail address, and you're not using gmail's SMTP. It sound's like you're designing your email solution around having forwarding addresses (or maybe wanting the gmail web interface?), rather than just simply having [email protected] hosted by gmail.

I'm thinking of just using the velnet servers and be done with it. Might cost me and extra £5.80/annum over them just hosting my domain. Currently looking at putting it as a sub domain to my business as that comes with a shed load of data, email and other support (little that I've ever used)
As for not finding names. I think 'Walker' is pretty common surname but managed to get '.uk.com' which all the family like the idea of and beat the hell out of crap like: '[email protected]' that EE was offering me.

when I set it up I don't think googlemail could host the domain. I actually have several domains and sub domains all forwarding to the same googlemail account. And yes I use the googlemail web client and phone/tablet apps, not used outlook or thunderbird for personal mail for years...
I guess there are now other ways to set it up, but it's working so I don't fancy breaking it by trying to change![]()
