Hi folks,

After admiring the Z4 Coupe (E86) for some time now, I have finally just purchased one!

Its a 2007 SE in Stratus grey and beige leather.

Very impressed so far, what a fantastic engine!

( Hopefully, a photo is attached from my dropbox)

Welcome to another Coupe owner!

Car looks great, and yes the N52 engine is fantastic!

Enjoy.

Thanks everyone.

I am treating the car to some fresh oil next week ( not due according to display but its over a year) - also , do you think it would be worth changing the gearbox oil? Its done 60,000 and I have noticed the noise from the transmission ( disappears when clutch depressed) which seems common to these cars.
Some people seem to note an improvement afterwards. What oil would you recommend?

Again, thanks for the welcome . I am looking forward to getting in some great drives over the coming months! :)

Hi and welcome, nice looking coupé there, I suppose you can always open the windows on a hot day :poke:

Nice car and welcome to the forum and well done for choosing the one with the right roof. :poke:

Re clutch chatter, it isn't the box making that noise. I think it's the throw bearing on the clutch. Don't be alarmed though. It's a common bmw noise. My old E46 did it too and so did my coupe. It's gone now as I've replaced the clutch, bearing and dmf but you don't need to worry about it. Just one of bmw's little quirks. Changing box oil wouldn't do any harm though. Just changed mine at 84k and it was black as the night so well worth it.

welcome!Yes to gear and final drive oil.I had the same noises and redline MT cured all .Dear stuff but a night and day result.Enjoy that great car :)

Thankyou..

Can you let me know which Redline oil you used as there are 2/3 different MT/L oils listed. Also, is it the same oil for the diff or different?

I understand the oil has to be GL5 but can you use GL4 (slightly thicker) ?

And what are the capacities for the box and diff?

Regards.

Matt.

Hi Mat,Sorry for delay in reply, did a 13hr shift,Then 2hrs in zed to fetch the dog!
Was a while ago now,but It is the 75/90 MT.To do both took Almost all of the 3 U.S quart jugs, from Demon Tweeks.I had to buy drain plug toolset for the final drive, but the gearbox was just an Allen key,8mm I think.Do use the search facility on here for all kinds of good pointers, and U tube quite helpful also.I had the classic Clutch release/input shaft bearing rattle and after the oil change this has gone completely!Result!Hope this helps :) P.S. You will need to drop the axle tray and get an oil syringe,Regards Mark

You are welcome Sir!While you are under there grab the rear end of the lower front wishbones and see if you can move them around in the rubbers.powerfex upgrade transformed my coupe totally! :)

Hi and welcome.

Thanks for the pic - nice car - wrong roof but nice car!

Enjoy :driving:

Don't worry about this, it's just a bit of jealousy from floppy model owners! :fuelfire:

And if we do get a hot day it doesn't matter in a Coupe, you don't need to open the windows as they have climate control as standard! Albeit the Roadster does give you the extra option of frying the top of your head! (And if you are over 50 - as I am - looking like a bit of a b*ll-end)!

BTW those wheels are rare on a Coupe as from what I have read they were only available on SE models and most Coupes are Sport models, but I think they look great!

Keep enjoying your Z4 COUPE - proper job! :driving:

Thanks for comments folks- even the soft top guys!

Very much enjoying driving the car and it is getting a bit spoilt- fully valeted it, using Dodo juice shampoo , clay mit, then pre cleaned/polished the paintwork with Dodo juice Lime prime and this was then sealed with Autosmart Topaz Hybrid wax. This has given a fantastic finish.

On Wednesday, its off to the local Indy to have fresh oil/filter ( I plan to add some Archoil AR9100 Friction Modifier) , new diff and gearbox oil and I,ve just given it a fresh air filter as well. Oh, and I,ve added a bottle of Archoil fuel system cleaner to a full tank of fuel, so that can work its wonders to any contaminents in there.

Happy days!!

:D
