Hi, yes I have a new car-but only for the next week or two while my zeds being fixed up.
It’s a Volvo v40 t3 & it’s very nice, super comfortable with a plush ride and good fuel economy :?
Strangely enough, I also felt ten years older the second I closed the door (which has a satisfying clunk)
Now, where’s my pipe & slippers? :P

You need help. Pop over to Cornwall for a spin in the ///MR roof down in this lovely weather. That should sort it.

oh yes a very sensible choice sir, im sure for the tick box brigade, it would do very nicely,,,

As a biker I never thought I would say this but I like a lot of the new Volvos, almost bought an XC60 instead of the X6.

Wow, that's pretty reasonable for a courtesy car - much better than the usual small Kias and Hyundais!

But now you're retired don't get too used to it - I can't imagine you in a cardigan and a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches just yet.

It is obligatory to wear a flat cap when driving one of these and never exceed 30mph, even on a motorway.

And be sure to keep to the outside lane too.

True. But I have to admit to having had two XC 60s which were the most comfortable cars I have ever driven and also great for towing! A Volvo towing a twin axle caravan. Not the sort of combination any self-respecting Z4 owner should admit to driving and certainly not what you want to get stuck behind.

Bought the Mrs. a 5 cylinder XC60 oil burner, she (& me) love it... effortlessly does over 40mpg @ 80mph on the continent, leather seats as above like armchairs, bit of a tardis for all the cr@p we have to take, sits on R suspension, runs sweet as a nut & fully covered by Volvos European recovery warranty (when serviced @ main dealer) - put around 30k on it & on 99,940k today, where a mate has a similar one with over 400k on the clock... only complaint is brakes are good, but could be better.

When the 330d goes next year the XC 60 will be on the list for consideration. I have already got the flat cap,

Just no! At least try an X5 first - you're too young for a Volvo.

Flattery will get you everywhere but I am a bit worried by your eyesight Iain. :D
