New car questions.

Guys

Got the Z4 yesterday (2003 3.0 SE Maldives blue) And have loads of stupid questions.

1) what is the best method for washing the roof? just plain water or can you use car shampoo etc or is there another way? Is a pressure washer a complete no no? Its in good condition but are the any coatings or treatments available to treat it rather than a complete overhaul?
2) Does anyone have any experience of the old business sat nav which has a separate DVD drive but no maps just arrows and directions?
3) This car had the "Supacare" treatment from new so will that have worn off now? can I clay bar it without any problems or just maybe a good cleanse before waxing?

Sorry if the questions appear stupid but if you don't ask you never get the benefit of others experience.

Regards.

On the first question, a forum favourite is the Autoglym cleaning kit: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Autoglym-500ml-Fabric-Maintenance-Pieces/dp/B005WIF4NI

The BMW equivalent is also popular, but a bit more expensive if you're buying the cleaner as well as the treatment agent.

There was a thread recently covering a sensible approach to cleaning it. Probably the thing that will make a biggest difference is getting a decent half cover.

Thanks for the reply MrPT. I've already purchased a half cover for the roof which will keep the bird crap etc off. I was just wondering the best procedure for cleaning the roof generally rather than a complete overhaul. I will check out your suggestions thanks.

Ah, ok. So between treatments (every 6-8 months and about 30 mins effort) I just vacuum it, roll it with at lint roller and rinse. If you give it a good scrub with cleaner before you treat it and use a cover, it won't get noticeably dirty.
