Makes you wonder if they price them high to start with so it fools people into thinking they are getting a good deal when it is reduced to the price it actually should have been released at.
Its like we used to do way back when i worked in retail for the xmas sales. We bought in a load of junk, priced it twice what it should have been and stuck it on the shelves for the 2/3 weeks up to xmas, then on boxing day sold it for half the price. Everyone is a winner, except the fools that bought it in the run up at full price
BMW dealer told me he wished BMW would just let them advertise at the price they actually sold the cars for. That was as he was telling me he could give £20k off an M6 before he even started to cut into the dealerships margin on it.

Looking at what I am thinking of spending a new Z4 35i Manual. I think if the car was advertised at £32.5K new, without any discount, I would still be interested. If they are £42K list without a £10K off, I wouldn't, as at £42K, there are better cars, new and second hand out there.
At the moment I cannot find a better value for money car than the Z4 as the discounts are massive.
