NEW CAMERA REFLECTION SHOTS AFTER DAY 1 OF SUMMER DETAIL

Lovely finish, as always - yours is probably the detailing benchmarks for me, good to see what Titanium Silver can look like. One day.

Hope you'll put up some wide shots and the step list when you've done

See you've got the measure of the camera as well

Still not 100% on the Camera front not finished reading the book yet and still got a long way to go but i am happy with some of the shots i got all straight from the camera i love number 5 the colours are great but sadly i am still relying on taking more shots than i need.

Step list i take it you meam detail process.

All work by hand

Clayed- Sonus Green Megs LT as lube
Polished- AG SRP X 1
Sealed- AG EGP X 1
Wax- Vic Concours x 1
Final Wipe-SP V2

Looks lovely Gaz.
What camera are you using?
I keep looking at SLR's but they dont come cheaply when you start looking at different lenses etc.

Cheers for the detail process, like to have as reference when I'm considering new products.

5's good... I really like the detail shown in 6. I need to pay more attention to those nooks and panel gaps.

Canon 450d bought it a few months ago payed just under £400 from comet came with a 18-55 kit lens.

The pics were taken using the Canon 55-250 lens cost me just over £200

Absolutely stunning, as always, mate

Did my summer detail today too, first time claying and first time using viccy concourse. Made a bit of a newb mistake with the wax; got too excited when applying by hand and put waaaay too much on... Took over 2 hours of pretty high pressure buffing to get it off. Can barely move now :(

My process:
Wash (Dodo Supernatural)
Rinse & dry
Clay (Dodo purposeful purple)
Wash, rinse & dry again
SRP x1
EGP x1
Victoria Concourse x 3 (will do coats 2 & 3 in the morning!)

What do you use on your headlights, Gaz? I fast-glassed them, then AG glass-polished, but I'm not getting anywhere near the results you have. They let the car down a little bit :(

Thanks Tweed

2 HOURS :o You must have put loads on i always put to much on but never that long to get off.

That colour must look awesome with VC on it.

The headlights i clean with whatever i QD the car with at the mo thats SP V2 http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/Products,78,toView_772.html leaves a great glossy finish after washing have not used fast glass for a while now i use my Megs LT for the glass .

They say 24 hours between waxing going to put a second coat on mine today and then a third Monday but if you want to do both today you could spit shine you pop on a layer of VC then spritz the area with QD then another layer of VC and then buff off a panel at a time.

Tempted to do this my self today see how it goes later.

Check out threads on Detailingworld and while on there look into headlight cleaning

That is one clean car! Looks brilliant! Plus great photos - especially like number 6

What book are you referring to with the camera? I have had SLRs for years film, then digital mainly but never really done anything other than take 'snaps' - I should go on a course or something (just need more days in the week!) - what book are you reading?

The book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-Digital-Rebel-Dummies-Computers/dp/0470385375/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274598094&sr=1-1

how do you not have any stone chips to the front bumper, any tips? because mine is peppered with them.

Yup, 2 hours :(
Might try an applicator today... Hands are fun, but should be easier to get a nice thin even layer with an applicator pad.

Will do one more coat of VC today then, and give the whole car a going over with Red Mist, inc. the lights (though, thought I'd read somewhere that QD straight on a fresh wax can react?)... Then get some shiny pics :D
You're right, the merlot does look very very special with VC on it

Easty, mine's the same, the front is totally peppered with chips. I'm going to tackle some of the bigger ones with my paints4u kit when I get the time/courage, but there're so many little'uns that I fear the only remedy would be a respray, then I'd get that film put on, methinks

I have who said the camera never lies :D plus the cars only got 22k on the clock

The bigger ones i use the Halfords kit on http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=bmw+silver&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&x=34&y=10

Just finished my second coat thats enough for me today got one more job to do in the garden then its time for a cool one and then round to my sisters for a barby and a lot more cool ones :D :D

When you say fresh wax do you mean after buffing off or while the wax is still on the car as there is no probs once buffed off.

Knew I'd seen it somewhere: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=168558

Though not really pertaining to QDs, more to Red Mist itself, being somewhat of a sealant

This post from the Dodo Juice man himself (http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=2170239) means I think I'll not put the red mist on just yet!
So I'll to the lights now, then do my second coat of VC, then go take some piccies :)

Brilliant book - been reading through it myself. Took plenty of photos today at the Strathaven Classic Car show - if there's any decent ones I'll pop them up later.

As for the car - looks fantastic. I wasn't sure about buying Vic Concours for a silver car but after seeing your photos I've just ordered myself some!

Thanks for the book recommendation, I have a couple of John Hedgecoes books but will have to look out for a 400d for dummies as my camera is a little older!

I will shamefully admits that the camera does not really leave either 'P' or the green square!
