Hi all

Pick up my new toy on Friday, a 53 plate 2.5SE.

Have had a nose around the forum, which I must say appears very friendly and informative.

Did have loads of questions, but found the answer to most via the search facility, leaving only 2 outstanding

1, brake pads? Standard best, or any recommendations for aftermarket brands? And do the brake pistons just push in or do they require a special wind in tool? Oh, pads need to cope with gentle road use with the odd Nurburgring trip thrown in.

2, brake discs? Standard or any aftermarket recommendations and what sort of cost can I expect.

Look forward to chatting with you guys and girls

Many thanks
lance

High and welcome, think most use OEM or Green Stuff for pads, calipers just push back in, discs I think most OEM

hello and welcome :D

I just changed to EBC Greenstuff for Pads and EBC Ultimax for Discs... not had them on for that long to be definate but so far seem alot more powerful than OEM

Welcome - just been in the same position as you, picked mine up last week. Enjoy it!

In my old e36 i tried EBC pads with OEM discs and ended up warping them!
Are things better with the OEM zed discs do you know?

Welcome :)

Pads - I have found Pagid blues all though expensive are just incredible, surviving a full track day with no fade whatsoever :o 8)
Also good for road use as they have a good bite from cold.

Cheers guys & gals

Picked the car up yesterday, wow :) :) , really enjoying it.

Well I was until some cretin put a dent (small) in the passenger door, in a car park, even despite me parking well away from the hordes :(

Still, not gonna let it upset me too much, just gonna try to enjoy the car.

Will be tinkering tomorrow... 8)

Cheers
Lance

I'm on standard discs and redstuff pads. Work very well as a day to day pad and once they're warmed up they're cracking on the back roads.
