BMW website now has the prices for the new models, 640i SE for £65,680 and 650i SE for £73,430.

The production car is not far from its concept car. I think the convertible is not as attractive as its coupe form. The whole car is just like new 5 series (both exterior and interior) but only with 2 doors. M Sport models and new M6 will be nice.

Good news, I'm thinking of getting an old shape 6 in the next 12-18 months as my daily drive, should make the prices drop even more.

It isn't cut out to be a convertible though is it? Coupe all the way.

Not sure? Have to see one in the metal. Looks a bit of an American market car, like the Sebring, from that picture. :?

I'm not conviced, but like Breaker says best to see it in the flesh.
Thye do devalue like there's no tomorrow. 06 M6's are going from around 27/28k. That's a lot of car.
I've been thinking about getting the M6 as my next car... question is are they going to continue to devalue at the same rate? :?

Hmm, not sold. The back end could have tapered down a little. Looks like it has been stuck on as an afterthought?

It's def on my list as an X5 replacement when the time comes (old style) It will be up against some stiff metal in older Aston's like a DB9 as my other daily drive.

Oh the advantage of being 50+ in a cheap insrance area and a rack of NCB along with enough mecanical ability to keep cars on the road. Stick to 2005 or earlier and I can run them for £500 to 1000 pa (tax, ins, MOT and service) plus fuel

I had my cheque book out today and now about to call dealer and tell him it's not for me. After 2 x 6 Series, this one is too similar - which is ok, but been there, done that....so it's a no for now.

640 is pick of the bunch until a 635D comes out.....

I don't understand why BMW decided to launch new convertible first, but not the coupe. Most car manufacturers launch new model in coupe form first, and then convertible. :? Marketing strategy? Summer is 8 months away.

ksher, there are a lot better cars out there for £73k+ :)

If I had that money to spend, I would buy a used Audi R8 for its mid-engined layout, or older Ferrari 360 F1/Lamborghini Gallardo. Paying £73k on a BMW, no way.

Agreed. As others have pointed out (and m owners are well aware) the residual values on bmws right now is shameful! Much better investing the cash in a car that has better performance, looks and long term value! Crazy money for a rather plain looking car. Or maybe I'm out of touch. Last time I checked 70 grand was a hell of a lot of money...

Dealer just called me, and he even had to admit, it wasn't as pioneering as he would have hoped in terms of looks.

70K is going to get me my 1 year old AMV8 now in January, and in white.

R8 is nice, but the Audi'ness of it annoys me, especially the TT seats. And the front overhang is so short, it just looks odd.

F430 or Gallardo? Things going wrong, and very expensive servicing, scare me. I could just about afford the car, but not the costs that go with it.

Am glad I didn't go for the BMW, and will look forward to something else, and my RR Evoque in the summer.....
