New Baby Carrier

Hi guys and girls

As I haven't been on here for aaaaaaggeees and I have just started another thread, I thought I would update you on my present car situation.

We have recently welcomed into the world our baby daughter and as a knock on to this exciting chapter in our lives, I had to let the TT go , which was rather gutting to be honest..

I recently took delivery of the baby transporter. Its nothing too exciting but its quite nicely specced and is surprisingly nice to drive, albeit not a sports car of any means.

I went for the following after much deliberation:

Audi A3 Sportback
S Line
2.0 TDI Quattro S Tronic
Navigation
Electrically folding door mirrors (fold when locking which is a nice touch)
Bang and Olufsen sound system (this is phenomenal)
Full Nappa Leather
Heated front seats
LED interior light package
Full LED headlights (these are amazing. So much better than Xenon)

I have recently just purchased and installed the DTUK tuning box which after reading so many positive reviews about, seemed a no brainer. Anyway this has taken the car from 184BHP and 380NM to 240BHP and 510NM. Its fantastic and makes the car a real wolf in sheeps clothing. I managed a launch from 0-62 at 5.9s last week and fuel economy has got better. Its unbelievable.

Went to Car Fest yesterday. Fully loaded with bags and 3 adults and managed 52.5MPG combined and I wasn't hanging about either.. Very impressed.

I have also had the rear glass tinted to the same spec as factory fit sun protection glass and de badged the rear which just finishes it off IMO. I haven't got any photo's with this done yet though.

Anyway, I've attached a couple of pictures if anyone wants to bore themselves looking at an average euro box ha.

PS. My intention is to be able to buy myself an M roadster within the next couple of years as a weekend toy so I can be part of the family again. I miss you lot.

Hope everyone is doing OK :D

I like that, we're thinking of swapping the wife's Q5 for an A3 Quattro (but petrol, as she doesn't do the miles to warrant the devils fuel) as the Q is a bit of a pain in the arse to park without worrying about someone dinting it. I bet you didn't get much change out of £25K for it?
Congrats on Sienna too

Awesome choice on the B&O - sampled it when we were thinking of ordering an A3 and was really impressed - in the end we went for a GTD Mk7 as the A3 was starting to get to silly money with the nice options added :)

GTD and Dynaudio stereo upgrade worked out better financially with it being a company car

Congratulations JDM, on both - but of course delighted that your wee girl is fit & healthy

Keep seeing these A3 sport backs and thinking they'd be a good replacement family car...

Congrats John! Beautiful baby girl, and I'm sure you know I'm a big fan of the A3 :D

Do the LED headlights not have the dynamic indicators!? 8) Very nice car.

Thank you everyone.

She is so adorable and stole my heart the second she opened her eyes and looked at me... They say kids change your life.. Well she's shook it up and turned it upside down but she makes having a boring car worthwhile ha.

Gordon, yes it has the fancy indicators that are the same LED light as the driving light. It looks very cool. It has intelligent lights that automatically change when driving abroad, they recognise when you are on a motorway and change the beam pattern to project further ahead and they also light up exits when you are passing them.. They also have the "bending light" thing that illuminates kerbs and corners when you turn the wheel or turn on the indicator.. All in all they are very cool and worth the £750 premium.

Funkmunky, yes the B&O is great.. It sounds so much more clear and crisp than the Bose I had in the TT and better than the B&O in my bosses new RS4 and my colleagues A5. The technology on the A3 is newer than the A4 and A5 though as they are nearing the end of their current facelift life which probably has something to do with it..

I have to say the A3 is very nice.. It feels nimble and actually quite fun for an everyday car.. The Quattro is very very reassuring in rain or damp roads. Obviosuly yet to try it out in ice and snow but has to be better than the TT, if not as much fun as the Z4  Just little things on the A3 that make it feel special and thought about. One of the best ones I have to say are the door hinges. They don't have the usual set points where they stay open (usually 3 notches on the hinge) They are a friction style hinge and stay open wherever the door is placed which is so much better in car parks etc.

Oh how adorable and congratulations on Sienna, like the name btw

As for the A3, nice, but another white Audi John :D

Congratulations to you all. Well worth having a sensible car for a while, and a very nice choice you have made.

Beautiful little girl too :)

Just been reading up on the LED headlights... I see the option for the A3 on the Audi UK website, but it looks like the new TT might have 2 LED options, according to the German Audi site:

LED €1220
LED Matrix €2140 :?

Interested to hear you speak highly of them though.

Just be careful with those diamond cut wheels John, one of mine accidentally rubbed against a kerb recently  and I felt I had no option but to get it refurbed (£120). Audi Glasgow didn't actually do the repair but gave me details of another company that did a first class job.

Hi Gordon,

Yes unfortunately the A3 isn't available with the Matrix LED headlights as you get on the A6 and A7. They are supposed to be even better, and I would expect as they are double the price.. For £750 upgrade though on the S Line model they are a phenomenal bit of kit.

I took the tyre and wheel insurance. Cost me £250 but covers you for up to 10 alloy refurbs and 5 punctures so well worth the money if you think one refurb is over £100. I also had them put in writing that the refurb will not be a cheap painted finish it will be with the diamond cut rim to match.

On a side note the new TT looks very interesting. Some cool technology on it. The dash and instrument binnacle looks first class.

Thanks everyone for all the kind comments.

Sars, I forgot you have a hate of white Audis.. In my defence its Amalfi white which is more of a creamy old english white, so does stand out next to the sea of very bright white cars on the road. :P
