New alloys and 1st MOT

I booked my Coupe in for its 1st MOT last week and also to have the 108 alloys looked at as they were beginning to let water in under the laquor and go milky.

Well, not only did the car pass 1st time with no advisories (i didn't really think it would fail anything, but against all odds, BMW said they would replace 3 of my alloys too under warranty which runs out in Sept. The 2 rear wheels were pretty bad and the front nearside too. Non have been curbed apart from the only wheel thay are not replacing. I was gob-smacked when they said they would replace the other three though. The only problem is that there are non in stock at the moment so i have to wait for 2 weeks.

Still, top result though. :)

Good news - make sure they all match as the replacements are most likely to have a cream inner rather than the diamond cut and polished of the earlier ones

Why wont they change the fourth is it the kerb damage?

My dealer only wanted to change three as they said the fourth was fine although I had checked them previously myself, the tech just didnt clean the wheel properly so didnt see the very mild corrosion, I had to provide pics again to prove.

I also stopped them from fitting the other three wheels when they spoke over the phone as I didnt want an odd wheel and the dealer wasnt sure if they were different or not. There is no way I was going to have an odd wheel and would have taken on a fight with dealer and BMW UK is push had come to shove.

I cleaned all the wheels and gave the car a full wax before taking it in, firstly to show i care about my car, second to show the damage on the bad wheels. I can't remember which wheels was ok now, i'm sure one had no damage at all, so this is the one that isn't being replaced. I can't remember???

I would argue the point. Why would I drive a car with one odd wheel? If the new design had 6 spokes not , or the spoke was a different colour, would it be acceptabe?

Others have been succesful in getting a full change

I mentioned this when i picked the car up this morning and the very helpful chap said he would look at which type of rim they had when the wheels arrived. He did intimate that it would make more sense to have 4 alloys of the same spec, so we'll see what happens.

I arrived to fine the car fully valeted (even though i cleaned and waxed it before it went in), and they had also blacked my tyres which gave it a lovely new appearance. 09/10 to Halliwell Jones Chester on this occasion. Lets see how it goes when my wheels turn up.

I suppose this all depends on how bad the kurbing is. My wheels had some light kurb damage and I got a full set of replacements and didnt have to argue atall. You've probably already looked at the thread but the condition of mine are here:

My dealer told me they have to put an angle grinder through them, but I could easily see mine going on their demonstrator which somebody had kurbed badly on two wheels.

The wheels that is kurbed is being replaced as well, as it is also showing signs of letting the water in under the laquor. The only wheel not being replaced so far is the front o/s which is showing no signs of laquor damage and no kurbing.
