New 3.0si owner

Hi, I'm Josh. Recently bought an 06 3.0si in black with read leather and 29k on the clock. Paid £9500 for the car which turned out to have a sticking electric power steering column. Soon got that changed at BMW at the expense of the previous owner so all is well. My previous car was a mk2 mx5 which I had for 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed but thought it was time to change up. If there's anything I should look out for id be appreciative. One question I have is the matte black rubber like material on the steering wheel spokes is quite worn. Is there a way of removing it all and re coating?

Anyway, I look forward to using the forum.
Cheers
Josh

P.s. Unsure how to upload pictures

Hi josh, have you got a roadster or a coupe? The convertible roof drains can clog & kill the motor if not kept clear and rear springs seem to be short lived but if looked after these cars are usually robust/long lived.
There's plenty of info on here if you use the search facility, hope you enjoy your car
Regards

Welcome Josh - sounds a peach of a car :D Looking forward to pics ! Did you buy from a dealer or private - sounds like "private " when you say previous owner paid for the steering problem - if this is the case you certainly struck lucky with the owner - most people would say " sold as seen and tested "

Now then Josh - welcome to the Forum. We too had a mk2 MX5 for 6 years - great little sports car and never failed to put a smile on our faces.

You're going to find the Zed a more serious proposition and it's an event every time you take it out.

If you've bought from BMW does it have runflat tyres? if so you'll soon find that nearly all of us ditch them for non runflats - improves the ride and cuts down tram-lining. Talking of which - keep both hands on the wheel when hooning - you'll find that uneven surfaces, banding and imperfections will drag the Zed to the side - normally the edge of the road - you'll soon know what I mean and it becomes part of the character of the Zed and the driving experience.

You've bought a wonderful sports car and you'll love it - real sense of ownership pride with these things :D

Looking forward to the photos.

:driving:

Hi, it's a roadster. Spent month searching for the right coupe when this one came to my attention and just had to have it. I've experience with clogged drain holes so I'll get on that, cheers.

The previous owner ditched the run flats thankfully. I have noticed that two hands are preferable

Bought it from a BMW specialist as it was his own toy. He's well known to my family and got the work done for trade price at Chandler's BMW who he works with time to time. So was rather lucky :)

Welcome aboard, nice low miles on your zed

But now you have popped your head above the parapet by saying hi on here, your number 1 priority is to get some pics posted :P Or you'll have them (the picture police) on your case otherwise, I see that Swiftly has mentioned it so far but he's the good cop, the bad ones will be along soon.

Only owned it a few weeks so just got some basic pictures at the moment
