New 2014 M3 and M4 testing

Thanks for posting  I am not completely convinced by the noise they make though & if they sound like that from the outside I can understand why they will pipe a different sound into the cabin through the speakers.

I think I am happy I have the vintage model as its induction noise is a high point & real! Plus the 8400rpm is nice but regardless I am really excited about the new model, it will be quicker have more torque & do 30 mpg & that has to be a great thing. :driving:

Looks amazing! Cannot wait for these bad boys to come out!

For forced induction sounds pretty good to me! I hope these set a new standard

And speed limited to 155mph of course  :)
Mine isn't so I hope they don't bother with the new one either! I am really looking forward to it coming out though as they always seem to manage to make the next generation better although everyone always says that they preferred the previous one.

Most said the E46 was better than the E92 when that launched, it's funny because being realistic they have all got worse because none of the later generations are better than the original E30 they have just been a means for bmw to make fortunes of money on the back of the original through its marketing.

I thought all Bm's where limited to 155 because they signed up to some agreement years ago? Or is your spedo reading very high?

The sound is very disappointing compared to the V8 M's. Having had the top down constantly over the past few weeks I have heard two e46 m's and they sound rubbish from the outside, a bit like a 50cc moped.

It might be Kryton tbh but I was curious to see if it had one on it & I've seen 162 on the digital readout in fifth & it was still pulling, I don't know why they limit them when they can go faster as Porsche don't... you lucky man! :driving:

I think the 155mph limit was a gentleman's agreement and not an official thing.

I bet it makes a pretty nice noise when the final car is launched. The M135i sounds pretty decent on the standard exhaust so i would guess the M3/4 will sound better than that. Possibly more like the M135i M performance exhaust.

I agree Mowflow  no arguement with that sound I would love a M performance exhaust for my M3 but cheapest I've seen it is £2500, which I feel is a little pricey...but you get what you pay for I reckon.

It retails at BMW for £2900! I remember putting a full Magnex system on my old xr4x4 & i paid £445 for it & I thought that was a rip off!

It's the legendary M tax at work again! :D

Mine was still pulling at indicated 167 in 5th, I think the rev limiter will stop it before anything else.
