Has anyone here got a NESPRESSO machine or similar KRUPS ?

After a 5 year love affair with my De'Longhi Esspresso machine & coffee bean grinder (Sniffffff... Mmmmmm) iv decided life's too short to:
Warm up machine
Grind bean
Load ground coffee
Spill ground coffee
start machine going
Over flow coffee
Drink amazing coffee
Spend another 10min cleaning up all the mess

We recently went on a Long weekend away in the new forrest and the suite came with a NESPRESSO machine which seems Simple
Turn Machine on
Insert pod
Press button
Drink Coffee
Yum!

So i have bought one
Problem is WHAT pods to buy?
There all called Indriya, Fortissio, Arpeggio, Vivalto etc....??
They sound like FIATS car trim levels? :headbang:

I just like a Good STRONG Espresso or Americano but dont know which pod to buy?
Can anyone help / recommend?

Buy a selection box of all the grand crus - think you get 200 capsules for £50-£60, then you can decide which you prefer. I have a Nespresso machine and love it. Got some favourites but would need to be at home to tell you what they are. Bit of a pain only being able to order online, but if you plan it the standard delivery only takes two days. You can buy them in Harrods as they have a boutique which is a great place to buy 'bits' like glasses etc. And you get a free coffee while you're there 8)

How do these handle milk drinks, i.e. latte?

The pod machines I've tried in the past cant get the milk part right, and make the drink minging - do these do proper milk or milk from pods?

I've had a couple. Started with a manual Krups, then moved on to an automatic Krups, and am now on to an automatic DeLonghi one that does the hot milk/foam automatically for you too.

I tend to go for the higher strength coffees as I think the ones below 5 are a bit watery.

I think my favourites are the Rosabaya (6), Indrya (10), Ristretto (10) and Roma (8), but you can buy a sample/starter kit (some machines come with a sample/starter kit too).

Have just seen that they've got 2 new ones that I've not tried yet - Kazaar (12) and Dharkan (11) - I'm sure they'd make a great ristretto/espresso or base for a strong latte/cappuccino.

If your machine is anything like mine, you may want to run a couple of cups of water through it (without a capsule in it) to warm it up - and make sure your cups are warm, otherwise your coffee will go cold quite quickly.

The only thing in the pod/capsule is the coffee.

If you want hot milk/foam then you either use an Aeroccino, get a machine with a steamer (good for hot water for tea/americano) or get a machine with the automatic hot milk/foam/water dispenser.

All the coffee jargon these days translates to the following statement. Bring buckets of money to the shop, Hand said bucket containing this weeks pay to cashier. Leave shop wondering how the hell coffee got to be so damned expensive. Simples :)

Mmm..- another Nespresso convert here - so much easier & cleaner than grinding beans etc.

Agree with all said so far - I have a Krups machine with built in Aerocinno thing which has been great - used extensively for over a year - with largely Semi-skimmed or One milk. Leave it standing after it's stopped for maybe 1.5 - 2 mins and the froth can be super thick & foamy.

The new Dharkan & Kazaar are excellent and strong as are Ristretto & Indirya - oddly I don't like Rosabbaya - kinda flowery.
Glass cups are nice too as the finished product looks very pro ( must be heated with hot water beforehand - so you end up boiling the kettle anyway)

There are a few Nespresso shops in e.g. Berlin, Amsterdam etc. ( yes I know there are more interesting "coffee shops " there too!) but ordering on-line is so fast -buy 200 various pods - spend circa £60 (ouch - on coffee?) and postage is free. I think you can now buy replicas on e-bay etc. but not tried any - Nespresso do try and control the distribution by not selling in supermarkets etc. - I do wonder if this will last - guess they want to preserve their profit margins and not share with Sainsbury//Waitrose/Tesco etc.

Had a Nespresso machine for 5 years and really didn't use it as much as I would have liked as you have to do the milk separately which is a bit messy and a ball ache for a quick cappuccino. I sold it and bought the Delonghi Circlo and I have to say it's fantastic! Great coffee (loads of different varieties), easy to use, no mess, cheaper than Nespresso machines and looks great in the kitchen too.

We are planning on getting one for work for visitors and meetings, however can't decide which system to get. I like Nespresso because of George, sad I know, I have a Tassimo at the other home but not to keen on that as it only makes very strong coffee even with strength 3 and the Nescafé well it's Nescafé so not sure on that either.

This is my current one, which has a milk 'jug' on the side which is used when you select one of the milky coffee options from the buttons.

That's neater than my 'old' one, I had a jug that you had to froth your milk by hand. :headbang:
Same with my first one.

Then I bought the aeroccino, which was just a little electric milk warmer/foamer that would make about 1/2 a cup of milk/foam.

Got fed up with that as it took 2 minutes per run and was a pain if you wanted to make more than one at a time.

There seems to be two or three different pods in size and make.

I think it depends if you want a half or full cup of drink.

Works out to 30 to 50 pence a cup whichever

Should only cost 29-35p per capsule - unless you buy them from an Amazon seller who's put 50-100% profit on them - as you can get the assorted 150/200 capsules for £47/£62 respectively on the Nespresso site.

The Nespresso coffees only come in the consumer-level capsules (same shape as the mini-milk cartons), or the business-level 'pods' which are like a UFO saucer shape.

There are different pods for all the other 'coffee systems' out there, but they won't fit (although there are 3rd party Nespresso-compatible coffees available from Illy & such).

However, you can use any of the normal Nespresso capsules to make whatever size coffee you want, just depends what button you press as to what comes out. Although you probably don't want to make a Lungo out of a Ristretto or Kazaar, nor would you want to use a Lungo Vivalto to make an espresso. The way the coffee is roasted and how tightly it's packed into the capsule will dictate what it should be used for.

Arpeggio gets my vote: http://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/product/arpeggio

We probably order about five boxes of these (at work) for every one box of something else.

Off topic sorry, but sars I'm obsessed with my Tassimo. Being able to stick Costa pods in there keeps brand whores happy and looks cool, but more to the point I've had and have so many different coffee types and they aren't all strong to taste. Even the teas are nice if you haven't tried them? Create a really thick crème with them too. Sorry, you can see my addition clearly here

I have a Nepresso machine (Magimix) which I've had for about two years. Usually get the Lungo selection for the wife whilst I prefer the stronger Intenso selection. Post free for 200 capsules which usually arrives next day.

got one for Christmas. the caramel espresso is particularly nice if like black strong coffee. when you buy a crups machine you usually get £10 credit to spend on the website, gives you the chance to try out the flavours
