Need quick advice about tire sizes! (Z4M)

OK, so i ordered a front set of 225/45/18's from http://www.ears.co.uk as they were the only ones that i could find who had Yokohama AD08's at that size which is the stock Z4M front tire size... Well 2 days after placing the order and paying i email them to ask if they've shipped them and they tell me they don't have them in stock after all... They then offer 235/40/18...

Now my problem is this, with the 225/45/18 i got tire rub in the wheel arches because of the spacers i had to install in order to fit the brake kit behind stock wheels. Now i've flattened that pointy plastic edge shown below, now i dont THINK they rub any more but the tires have worn a lot since then anyway. With new slightly wider ones i'm not sure if it would rub or not....

Now what do you guys think i should do? Should i give the 235/40's a shot? Further below is a comparison picture of the two tire sizes.

Not sure what the standard profile is, but if you alter the overall wheel diameter your speedo will give a false reading and might need re calibrating. Smaller profile = smaller diameter = faster wheel rpm for the same speed = speedo over reading even more than it does now. I think

That or rely on a GPS for a speed reading...

The speedo runs off the right rear ABS sensor, front tires shouldn't affect it. The stock front tires are 225/45/18 and that's the size i've been using for my last 3 tire sets. That's the size i thought i was ordering but alas it was not meant to be...............

I've gone ahead and ordered the 235/40/18's.... it's slightly wider but the lower profile means their sidewall is 7mm thinner, they might not rub and if they do i reckon i could have the wheel wells rolled at a body shop... I'd prefer a completely stock size front/rear but under the circumstances i don't have much choice...

Wideness isn't your issue its the 45 section. Get this down and your going to minimise your rub.
