Hey everyone,

I want to buy new wheels for my car. I currently have the stock ellipsoid (sp?) wheels and want something nicer. My car is Titanium Silver.

I don't know anything about wheels. Any recommendations on what would fit on my car? I think I'd get new tires at the same time.

My front tires are labelled 225/40/18 and my rears are 255/35/18.

Thanks...please help a newb!

I quite like the ellipsoid wheels - it's all down to personal preference I guess. As long as you go for the right size/offset you can't go far wrong

Not what you asked but I agree with Lotus1. I have the Elipsoids and love them. Not seen anything that I'd run out and fit.

If you do change I'd consider 2 things - Many bottom end aftermarket wheels are very heavy and reduce performance and you'll need to think if you intend to keep the RFT's. I'm not sure they could be fitted on all rims?? If you change as mentioned and go with non RFT's consider the spare/repair kit options.

Search the board - there are many posts with wheel and tyre combos illustrated

absolutely agree!! looks is up to you since everyone's tastes are different, but for sure, you don't want to spend your hard earned $$ on rims that actually give u worse performance. and you don't want some crappy rims that will warp over time due to crappy craftmanship. of course, the lighter the rim & the better the brand name, the more you will spend.

Hmm another ellipsoids fan here too. Why don't you get the existing wheels refurbished in a gun-metal colour, looks good with ellipsiods.

I am going to go with the M6 copys Rims like Mako did they are awsome looking!!! Dead Sexy! I am waiting on 2 things though... I want to find out if they are good rims, the ones i have found are made by Miro. 2 i can't decide on 18 or 19s :D

Most folks love the ellipsoids (i like mine), and don't replace them. Look at the z4 coupe on at the top of the Z4 Forum, it looks nice, but i dont think the z4 coupe every came with ellipsoids?

My 2005 had the staggered 18" Double Spoke 125

Not in the U.S., but I've seen them come stock on Euro Z4 coupe's in the pictures and I've seen them on both a Canadian Z43.0si roadster and coupe when I was in Vancouver, B.C. They had the newer version of ellipsoids and not the ones that came on pre-facelifted roadster.

Canaidans have always had more stock wheel options. Back when nobody in the U.S. was able to get the style 125 5-spoke wheels stock on a Z4 3.0i (now they're stock wheels on a 3.0si with sport pkg) without paying full-price for the set and essentially ending up with 2 sets of rims, they were an option along with the ellipsoids in Canada and half the 3.0i's there I saw sported the style 125 rims.

I guess from this thread so far, at least it seems like you'll have no problems shifting the Ellipsoids if you want to change them... everyone seems to love them :D

I would tell you to chrome the ones you have, but, You would have this other guy getting in your car wondering why it won't start.

have a picture or link to the new version of the ellipsoids?

Maybe I should get them chromed like IMZ4N's car?

I just need something to spice up the car a bit. I love my car but we've been together over 2 years now and I feel it's time to shake things up a bit.
