NC500 and so it begins ………

The first comment on have your say sums it up.

The locals have been fed up with the standard of driving and the campervans for years.

Neither driving standards nor the proliferation of camper vans will be resolved by taking action on speeding though. Driving standards are improved through better education on how to actually fucking drive instead of the 'shut your eyes and send it' approach most of the snap-back wearing vaping, dsg-peacocking plonkers in their finance white Audi s3s have these days.

Nothing can be done about camper vans sadly, certainly not sticking fecking speed cameras up everywhere

Locals have been complaining about the disruption for years, but nobody wants to be educated. Nobody ever thinks they are a bad driver or understands that driving fast in groups can be antisocial.

It doesn't really matter if you have the ability of drive and ride at speed. It is the noise and disruption caused.

I have done it once and would never do it again as the roads are so terrible in quality. £9k of re-spray required on my car after that, never again.

Prefer mainland Europe with some of the most stunning roads and views without the aggro

I thought the idea of the NC500 was to enjoy the drive and the scenery, not blatt around it at warp speeds.
Maybe now people will have time to appreciate it.

I suppose it was only a matter of time, so it's probably just as well I did it last year! :D

It's got to the point now that cameras are the only form of road policing. :headbang:

If you avoid the cameras you can get away with pretty much anything so long as you don't crash.

+1
Did it in 2021, stunning

Interesting where they put the a average speed cameras…as someone whose travelled that bit of road about 10 times I’m struggling to see that it’s part of the tourist Grand Prix circuit..much more likely to catch builders van to and from Dounreay,.

Maybe I’ve been lucky but I’ve seen precious little egregious behaviour from heavy artillery….

I can see why the odd ultra stupid high speed idiot gets a lot of publicity but from what I’ve seen they are the exception rather than the rule..

The dash from Inverness to Strathcarron can entice a bit of high speed jinks but elsewhere mega speeds are simply not feasible..
