Nav screen - slow to get going!

Hi Everyone

Since collecting my car on Monday I've noticed that my nav screen takes quite a while to get to the correct level of brightness.

It's temperature related as this morning it was especially long (15 mins) to get to operating brightness and we had a frost.

Yesterday lunchtime however, when the car had been parked outside in the (7.5c) sun with the roof closed, the screen warmed up within about 2 or 3 minutes.

Anyone else have this?

My suspicions are that the LCD backlight is failing in the monitor - anyone ever had one of these flip up units apart? I've seen the instructions on how to replace the screen in the e46/x5 systems but never on a Z4/X3.

Thanks

My Z does exactly this and takes a little while to get to full brightness.

My X5, which is a later car, does similar but takes less time to get bright.

Once the weather improves I'm sure all will be back to normal so I don't plan to pull it apart for something that's hopefully temporary.
