NAV/Information screen stuck halfway open

I have an 07 Z4 coupe with the pop up NAV/info screen.
A few months ago, the battery died, and I didn't get around to replacing it for several days.
When I put in a new battery, ONE of the problems I had was that it went into the Transport Mode.
The other problem was that the pop-up NAV screen somehow was in the half-up mode. Fixing the Transport Mode did not correct this.

The radio works fine otherwise -- it's just that the screen remains open about a quarter of the way open (it's not even lit).

It was all coincident with the battery going out, so there must be some glitch that needs to be reset, I would think.

Anyone have this problem? Any solutions?
Thanks.

Try getting it coded with DIS, this will show any faults logged in the memory.

Failing that try lowering the nav screen then disconnecting battery for 30mins, this should clear faults and reset it.

Had someone in the area try to clear it with DIS, but could not find that option. Where to look?
Will try the 30 minute rule.

You run quick test, after complete click i think on function and open each module. Read memory then clear memory.

It could be the stepper motor, its the weakness of the screen.

Thanks.
Have you any info on how to access it to fix it, or do most people just shuffle it off to the stealer?

OK - I searched for step motor and found this previous post: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25734

From 2011, there was this comment:

Stepper motor inside screen, can not be repaired.
To replace it:
- Remove vent above radio
- Remove 2 screws which are connected to the two legs of the screen.
- Remove plastic cover on top of the monitor nearest to the windscreen as there are 3 screws underneath there.
- Remove those 3 screens.
- Disconnect connector of the screen.
- Lift screen out of dash.

ANYONE DONE THIS? ?? "Vent above radio"?? I kinda think this is a different type of popup screen. My screen is on top of the dash, actually part of the top of the dash, and not in the face of the dash. Are there different types?

All E85/86 have the same sat nav screen

The removal process takes about 30 mins
