NATIONAL MEET 2013 BMW CC AND BMW CAR MAG ARTICLES

Wonder if it could be combined with the Silverstone Classic. Silverstone on the Saturday and a hoon on the Sunday.

Just a thought.

Hmm - difficult to comment as there is obvious history to this event and I would hazard a guess that lots of members have been involved - this was mine and Steph's first National but as first time attenders we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would hope to attend again next year - with that in mind, here are some of our thoughts:

I know that others helped out but you did seem to carry a great deal of responsibility over the weekend

You were busy all the time; liaising and meeting and greeting, sorting out the costings of the camp site, selling raffle tickets, collecting money for the BBQ, checking on routes, sorting your own car out (new tyre issues!) as well as collecting and transporting the many raffle items, organising the raffle draw, organising the BBQ, collecting and sorting photos and writing the articles.

Over the weekend we thought that you were doing so much we wondered how you could possibly enjoy the weekend and we were continually amazed how much time and effort you had put into the weekend. If this was your fourth National I'm not surprised you're beginning to feel a little jaded. . .

We were not the only Forum members who thought this way over the weekend and there was agreement amongst many that you deserved to be commended and your commitment and effort recognised in some way - the weekend was so full that by the time this was discussed and agreed people had no chance to do anything about it. You can rest assured that lots of people felt this way and wanted to thank you for your amazing efforts but time beat them - we shall see what gets posted on this forum.

On a more practical note here are a couple of suggestions you might consider - I'm sure others have ideas to help too. . .

Ask for some feedback from forum members - after 4 Nationals maybe it's time to see what folk enjoy about it and see if they have suggestions - important to get the positives as well as the suggestions though!

You could consider cutting down on the raffle prizes - members are likely to still buy tickets even if there were just say three prizes or even one. Save yourself the stress and time of having to chase up many prizes and the hassle of having to transport them.

You could share out some of the jobs - I'm prepared to help you out Craig I'm sure others would too.

No doubt other forum members will have comments on this and I recognise that being newbies we are not completely aware of how this event has been organised and planned in the past so apologies if anyone's nose has been put out - we can only comment on what we saw this year. We are also aware that events such as this do not go ahead without a great deal of planning, effort and commitment from individuals, often unseen and often such commitment is quite rare.

Perhaps another suggestion might be that the Forum create a formal award/recognition for those that have been particularly impressive in their contribution? Is there one already?

I agree with what Paul has said.
I think there is a lot of interest, maybe we could canvass a vote ref a more suitable date as it clashes with annual Holidays I think interest is growing along with the forum . I cannot praise you enough for all the effort and commitment that is put into this by yourself and Sammy. This was my second event andi loved it. Meeting other like minded people and the look on peoples face when 30 zeds drive through the villages is a great buz. I for one will put myself forward to help out if i can. THIS MUST CONTINUE CRAIG :)

Snipped Pauls entry

I also agree with Paul. Craig was at it non stop all weekend and that's without mentioning all the work organising the event in the months before. It too was my first National and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I camped over the weekend and the friendliness of the other 'happy campers' was heart warming to say the least. The important things to me were the venue , the people, the zeds, and the 2 routes, everything else was a nice bonus but not really vital. As Paul says, 3 raffle prizes is more than enough - how the hell Craig got them all in his car with the camping gear as well God knows. :)
If we did the exact same routes next year, I wouldn't mind.
I hope Craig is justly proud of the success of the meet this year but if he is feeling a little jaded, then perhaps a little delegation is in order for next year so that he too can relax and enjoy the meet more. :driving:
