(N52) E86 - Heated Oxygen Sensor Fault

So I hade the EML come on today, proof that low miles means nothing on BMW's  , anyway I've plugged the car into the OBD reader and I have the following....

P0050

H02S Heater Control Circuit - Bank 2 Sensor 1

So a few questions...

How many oxygen sensors are there 2 or 4?

Is this sensor easy to change or get access to?

Does the Z4 have a heater sensor fuse?

I'm considering main dealer as they've always dealt with the car, but it depends what price as they will want to run a diagnostic and tell me what the fault is when I know what it is. Sometimes they waiver the diagnostic charge if they do the job, so has anyone had this done and what sort of total cost did you pay?

A genuine part looks to be about £150.

Regards

Mark

Right well I can't help regards to telling you if it is the sensor or not, but I'm sure someone else can confirm. Are you able to use INPA to see the values?

I had Bank 2 Sensor 1 go which is the pre-cat cyl 4-6 sensor. I got a Bosch sensor from Amazon for £80. Indy wanted £225 or so to replace. It's not difficult just fiddly as there is a bracket in the way, I found I had to get under the car to get the tool on the two inverse torx bolts and needed an assistant to help guide it on (oh madam!).

I've since left the bracket off as all it seemed to do was hold the leads on but they don't flop about. You'll also need a sensor socket. It's certainly not a 2 hour job for them but was for me. If you need any more info I used a good guide which I can dig out.

Thanks for the reply Steve, the only info the OBD reader gives me is what I've put in my first post. But there's quite a bit of info on the web to suggest the sensor has failed.

It doesn't sound too bad to do, but I'll need to borrow a sensor socket.

There is a fuse for the lambdas its located under the bonnet in a black box, but I'm guessing it will be the lambda itself.

I recently had both post cat lambdas due to one of them showing the same fault.
