Mystery marks on front headlamp covers

Washing the car yesterday, I noticed a strange mark on the headlamp covers. There's one on each side in exactly the same place and it has made the surface of the cover rough, almost as though it's been scoured with a piece of sandpaper. Because only I wash the car, I can only assume it's the headlamp washers doing it. I guess they need to be powerful to blast any dirt away but enough to make these marks...?

It doesn't concern me at this stage as they aren't too noticeable, but I'd be interested to know if any other owners have these.

P.S. Sorry the photo is a bit blurred - the autofocus was a bit confused as to what it should focus on :)

As you have them too - and obviously take great care over the bodywork - then I have to assume it's the washers. Weird. When the car is next in I will ask the service desk, but I can't find any reference to this on the net for any make of car. :?

Just re-read your posting - "not noticed" rather than "noticed". My mistake  . Oh well, I'll ask the dealer anyway and see if it's something they've seen before. Does seem odd as the pressure required to score plastic would need to be pretty extreme.
