mystery dial on dashboard

I have bought a 2009 sdrive23i and now have a mystery on the dashboard. Does anyone know what the dial in highlighted in the red box in the image below is supposed to control?

Likewise,just had to go and check that i had one;thought i may be able to claim some cashback for a mis-build :rofl:
 
Used to have it on my E46's. As ksher says allow you to choose between hot or cold air for centre face vents.

Could could always FTFM :poke:

Looking at the picture reminds me of a little annoying thing bout the heating.
Why doesn't the heating adjust when you open and close the roof.
My Audi used to turn off the aircon and increase the heat when the roof was lowered. Don't think the e89 does this unless I've missed something??

I've just had a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder as a hire car, and it changes the equalisation of the stereo when you put the roof up or down. Pretty neat.

I did RTFM and I'm sure I read somewhere that it does, will look it up again and try to find it. :)

Surely it dies - if you use the climate control? If the roof is down the heater will ramp up? ( I guess! ) :?

Welcome to the forum, my E46 3 series had a similar dial, which I dont have on my E85 Z4.....
