I've had two possibly genuine inquiries who are asking all the right questions but this attempted address collection is on a par with those emails from Nigerians offering you millions to launder non-existent funds deserves publication :-
Good morning
Thanks for your response, I am happy that the vehicle is still
available for sale. In as much that all the details you put on the
advert page are updated and real there is nothing to worry about time
and distance might not permit me to come for the inspection of the car
but I AM FULLY SATISFIED with the description that i saw on the auto
trader website. Me and my wife just needed a second Car into the
family.

Please don't be surprise I want you to accept my offer of £12000 which
I think is fair enough for the car simply because i know the worth of
the vehicle am also offering you the amount to be the highest bidder
for the pretty vehicle. Please accept my offer and say NO to other
buyers. I will take care of the picking up of the vehicle, I know of a
private haulage company who’s going to handle it professionally for
me.

My preferred method of payment is by bankers draft or Cheque in a
(GBP) that’s the only option and safest way for me to transfer CASH
which am going to instruct my business associate to post you a bankers
draft or Cheque via Royal Mail. The bankers draft is going to clear in
your bank within 3 to 5 working days before i shall take the
possession of the vehicle. I hope to hearing back from you asap in
order to proceed further with the payment and picking up arrangements
as soon as possible.

Bankers draft only required your FULL NAME and your POSTAL ADDRESS. I
look forward to hearing back from you with your details for the
payment..

Cheers
Mr chypher

I'm not sure if you were suggesting that this was a genuine sounding buyer or not?

But for the sake of anybody getting an offer like this please be clear that IT IS A SCAM. There are several variations but it revolves around forged/stolen bankers cheques which will clear, then be rescinded 10 -14 days later. In the meantime an agent will have collected your car and shipped it abroad. To add insult to injury the buyer will have added an extra £3k to the cheque you received asking you to pay the shipping agent in cash when they collect - so you pay to have car nicked as well. Many people fall for because the buyer APPEARS to be paying full price up front.

Hi, long time lurker here (I was intending to get a z4, but bought a 130I instead, but scan the for sale section out of interest . Anyway, I'm posting to say I got exactly the same mail yesterday when trying to sell my car, told em to poke it. It's definitely a scam - they offered above asking price!!

Regardless, GLWTS and beware the scammers!

Are you serious? Of course I wasn't. I spotted the attempted scam immediately and thought it worth publicising.
