My wing mirror exploded :(

Well not exactly exploded but I went over a speed bump today and the glass fell out of the driver side mirror and was hanging from the heater element wires :(

Great build quality on these cars.... :headbang:

The glass has four locating pins which attach it to the motor bracket, it also has a ring which you turn to lock the pins in. I guess the crap dampening from the RFT's and sports suspension has rattled the ring around over time and the thing just fell out - the sticky tape on the back of the mirror seemed to have lost its stickyness a long time ago too!... thankfully I managed to drive home and get it back together.

If it happens to you at any point here is the fix:

1) Tilt mirror motor so it points down
2) locate the pins and push the mirror glass firmly in place (can be done alone)
3) at the top of the mirror there is a small tab with a notch in it... this is used to turn the plastic ring to lock it in place.
4) use a large paper clip or similar and hook it over the slot in the tab at the top - fiddly! then pull firmly to the right to lock. Moves about 1cm total but may be stiff.

5) Swear profusely and as punishment take car for a spank - wringing the living daylights out of it :driving: :fuelfire:
