Hi all, I just have to share this with you!!!!!!!!1........... wow I stubbled accross an item where for £119.00 you can buy what they call a RCH+ RCH with one touch function module. When I bought the Z4 (Z4 3.0si) I was always a bit disappointed that you could only bring the roof down from the key fob by holding it continuously after opening the doors, and there was no option to put the roof up from the fob either.......and equally disappointed by the way once in the car you had to keep your finger on the roof up/down buttons on the centre console. I was brave and bought the above mentioned module and had it fitted myself in about 25 minutes. It came with easy to follow instructions, 5 scotch connectors and pictured diagrams. it only measures 25mm x 19mm x 12mm. I am no ace with car mechanics or electrics but found it very easy and simple to do.
Now I can lower the roof with the fob....just push the open button on the fob 3 times and it lowers the windows, lowers the roof and puts the windows back up afterwards ready to get in and zoom off. Leaving the car I can walk away and again clicking the open button twice followed by a single push of the lock button it now puts the windows down, roof up, windows up, locks the car and alarms it. Better still with the module fitted I can open or close the roof whilst in the car as long as it isn't over 15mph with a single push of the interior (centre console) roof up/down buttons. Previously you had to be under 5mph and hold the buttons for what seemed an eternity whilst trying your hardest to look cool ate traffic lights etc......
I'd recommend one to all Z4 owners and if you need to know how easy it was fitted etc....pm me. I will advise you anytime. You'll find the item at http://www.gap-tech.co.uk which also has 2 videos to watch showing it in operation.

Hope this helps and we'll all look much cooler with one fitted.

Gaptech are on the forum - see the group buy post a bit further down the page.

Think quite a few people have this installed now.

Have you not been on here for the last 2 months? Gap tech has a 29 page thread on this, with it cheaper for group buying through Z4 forum
linky

I suppose it's easy to miss threads if you aren't here all the time.

Sounds like you are another satisfied customer though :)

Not sure where you've been Kernel or perhaps just running a viral ad campaign for Gaptech.

I fitted both remote roof and one touch modules 3 or 4 years ago.

Glad you like the result though

Hey CJ
Have the gapTech modules been available that long, or are you speaking of one of the earlier solutions?

FWIW, the gapTech mod is perhaps my favorite amongst many, including Multivex mirrors, the XM Direct receiver, the Roadster Solutions windscreen, the hardtop prep kit, the Touareg torch flashlight, the visor sticker removal, the mangowalk stubby, the LeatherZ Mark 4 armrest, the underseat storage boxes, the stealth Magnadyne DVU-2 power outlet, the Bosch Icon wipers, the Ultimate Cupholders, the rubber floor mats, the hardwired Garmin with separate powered speakers, and
. . . wait for it . . . yes, the fully-plumbed and heated toilet (loo?) in the trunk (boot?).

So, I am interested in this mod...especially since it allows you to use the key to open and close your roof. Can you control the windows through it as well? As far as just making the windows roll down and stay?

Guess I missed the inital thread.....sorry. However I was that impressed I had to let you all know. I am still sure many people out there would like to fit it and have the confidence to do it themselves. Cheers anyway. Kernel......still on Black Ops at 2.34am.

Is there a way to change it from 'open button 3 times'? Sometimes as I'm walking up to the car I have a habit of hitting the open button more than that, especially if I have a passenger with me. (once for myself, second time to open the passenger door, third time just in case one of the first two signals didn't get through).

Could see this as being an issue for me, especially if it's raining. :)

No but when you've run to your car in rain. blipped it 3 times not twice and the roof drops as you get in and become soaked you learn real quick how to work your key... On the Rheinhold they are 3 distinct and separate blips so accidents are rare

Gotcha. Sounds like I need to get a car alarm first then. Since without a car alarm there are no blips (or blinking lights) to notify when the car has been locked or unlocked.

Ah - alarm is standard on the UK models. Mines set to flash lights only as I hate blips for cars being alarmed on/off
