My Roof looks like a garden!

Had my Z4 about 4 months now - cleaning it this weekend i noticed some sort of green moss type stuff on the roof. Tried to clean with a stiff brush and soap and water - no luck.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Which cleaning products are recommended?

Plan to apply a protector to it once cleaned - heard Fabsil is very good, normally used on tents for waterproofing!

Any advice welcomed.

Few different recommendations on here if you do a quick search, I used to stick to BMW roof cleaner and water inhibitor, which worked pretty well and should get rid of your green stuff.

Ragtopp is also a good 2 part product. one to clean it and remove the dirt and algae, etc Second to seal it. As ike say run a search and a lot of opions will come back.

No way would I use Fabsil, a great product for sealing tents (and I use it myself) when the correct stuff for a canvas top is perhaps only £30 for the kit on a roof worth a small fortune....

I had that problem too...

Note: this is not my car. This is an '87(?) 535i that sat outside, unmoved, in a friend's driveway for about 5 years. Just for kicks, I brought a battery over, and we fired it up. Gas, oil, and radiator fluid were all untouched. It started after about 30 seconds of cranking, ran really rough for a few minutes, and then smoothed out and purred. Not bad.

I use fabseal, I have used the BMW & AG one as well, the best thing is to vax the roof with just a small amount of cleaner.
Dry the roof off with a leaf blower and spray & rub the fab seal in... Give it another coat 24hrs later and enjoy the fun !
