My roof is (still) broke!

Well, it is about time I got this fixed. I phoned a specialist Norwich way but they weren't too keen to take it on. So I need to find someone not too far away who has some experience in fixing such issues. Other than it's BMW Norwich but I'm not too keen on them tbh. Any suggestions? I am getting a bit fed up with it now. This is my second e89 and both have had major problems. :(

Steve, this may be a long shot but try contacting Rossiters in Dersingham. They are UK AC Schnitzer franchise but there is a chap there called Lorcan (know him from another forum) who is a really good chap. They may be able to help but if not may know someone who can?

Worth a phone call, surely?

I can imagine how bad it feels having a consistent problem and I hope you get it sorted soon. IMHO these cars really need a BMW warranty, or putting aside the money each month to pay for those repairs by BMW (even if you don't particularly like the dealer). I've not really liked any BMW dealer (or any main dealer actually) but at least I know I can take it there and it will be fixed - and it doesnt feel so bad - if I had paid the circa £2k for my active suspension work last year, I would also feel aggrieved at paying my dealer too!

I have heard loads of good things about a place called “the zed shed” with testimonials about him fixing various unfixable e89 issues. Maybe worth investigating?

Cayman Autos in Hampshire, look them up on the internet. My wife’s focus roof needs sorting and they seem to be the only ones who will do it.

I would be looking at the cost of flying Robbi over.
Sounds daft but I reckon it could turn out cheaper.

Have you considered the cost of a recovery truck plus the labour charges etc, and comparing that with buying RobbiZ4 a plane ticket??
(And this is not meant as a joke either!)

Nice idea.

But imagine what happens at the airport when I arrive with my toolbox containing a dozen blueboxes and millions of wires? Every airport would be shut down immediately. :poke:

Better to drive with my 5-series.

Of course, but at first I should be enabled to get into with my toolbox.

Btw, what will happen when I enter the UK by car? Are there intensive controls and restrictions on such "tools"?

Sorry. Not sure to be honest as I don’t tend to travel over by car. I’m sure others can advise you.
I would suggest that having email proof between you and the person you are visiting would help. Plus a contact number for them so the officials can check if needed.

I have just checked a few homepages on the subject of entering the UK. It seems to be easier to bring a non-functioning roof to the continent than to bring some electronic devices to the island as luggage. :driving:

Btw guys, you can switch off the annoying gong while driving with a defective roof. :D

maybe this is a temporary solution ( not mine you tube ) :D

I have never been checked in 35 years of crossing 10+ times a year
But you have an UK plated car and I'm a potential post brexit immigrant. 8)
