I was in Ireland this week for my granddad funeral he was 105 years old .An incredible age really and he still had his marbles he was born in 1910.

I loved his stories about how thing were back then particularly about the first cars on the road he remembers the first cars in the village where he lived ,he loved his cars and motorbikes over the years and owned some lovely old cars .

Still cant get my head around how someone can live so long and remember a lot of things that we now take for granted

Im not sure I would want to live so long

I think that folks like your grandad have lived through the most amazing challenging and changing times - bloody hell from Wright brothers to space travel - mind blowing!

He had a good innings as they say but I think you need your health to enjoy your old age sounds like he was blessed in having this

He was healthy despite smoking and drinking he gave up smoking at 85, but still had a tot of jamesons whiskey every day up until the day before he died :) I regret not recording his stories over the years ,

Sorry to read of your Grandad passing....must have been one hell of a bloke.

What a great age, the changes he must have seen in his lifetime must have been incredible..

Sadly, by the time we get interested enough in hearing from our older relations, it's too late.

thats a great age but like you i don't think i'd want to last that long

incredible to think what he's seen over the years
