my petrol cap cord has broken.

it's been this way since I bought it and i never actually realised it was meant to be connected until recently :headbang:

it seems bmminiparts want almost £17 for the cap (which includes the cord). I find this excessive seeing as though my cap is fine, I just need the cord.

is it possible to replace the cord on it's own? or do you need to replace the whole lot? here's an ebay listing for a different cap, but has the cord on it, although i don't know if you can remove it from the cap.

and my broken one:

Balls, wish I hadn't chucked my old one as the cord was fine , sorry :-s But yes unit is complete, 17-18 quid is about stealer rate as I found when simply the rubber internal seal on mine had started to crack and failed its MOT as a result :-o

crikey! just had a look at mine and sure enough, the cord seems impossible to attach separately.

the rubber seal on mine is cracked, probably why I can always smell petrol!

Seems like a real crappy part considering how many BMWs and minis it is must feature on. Had some old cars and not one of them had a failed petty cap ...

At this rate we will have enough interest to do a group buy.

Seems like a real crap part which BMW should have sorted out by now.

Broke mine 2 weeks after I got the bloody car! Funnily enough, my mums 2004 Hyundai still has its cord intact, says alot if you ask me..
