Good link - wouldn't have thought of writing to the DVLA too.

Might be worth looking to see if you have anything that marks your car as individual. Window stickers, any damage marks etc that proves it's not your car.

Put a forum sticker in the window, that way no one can clone your car (unless a forum member )

That was the idea. I have stickers from this forum and the other I am a member of on mine. A dealer sticker would do it though.
