Whatever it is, it's georgeous. :sweetheart:

Love a good "car chase" - the history of some of these things is incredible. This one has a memorable plate, "250 GWO", so was easy to find.

Firstly, it isn't a 500 TRC, even though it looks like one. They are worth billions now.

It's a 250 GTE chassis, serial number 3675GT. Pretty boring in comparison to a TR, you'd think, but I guess that still makes the chassis alone worth >£100k. The original engine has a good story, documented here:

So it became a donor V12 for an original 250 GTO body (nice) that was wrecked and subsequently rebuilt on a replica 250 GTE chassis. The body was originally (1965) a custom build by Drogo, who was famous for making some of the more ugly 250s, but it turned out like this:

Not exactly an eyesore.

The body of your mate's Ferrari is definitely a replica TRC though, built by DK Engineering according to this page, who judging by their "for sale" section, look like they are a pretty well sorted establishment:

And the engine is clearly a V12, probably the usual one from the 250s. So if anything, this car is an homage to this thing:

So your mate had taste - basically one of the best Ferrari engine/body/chassis combos you'll ever see.

Thanks for posting the photos OP.

Stunning car with a fantastic engine - I could even live with not having a proper roof if I had one of those!

All I know it was well respected by the Ferrari fraternity just one beautiful car. I think all the Fezas from that time were subject to scrutiny by the very nature of damage etc while racing

Whatever it may be it's still beautiful. Why don't they make cars beautiful anymore? Regular fast cars are all aggressive looking and hyper cars look like stingy insects with wheels.

One of my dads mates has a ferrari that looks very similar to that 250GTO. Pretty sure it's not but I do know it definitely is a ferrari and not a kit car.
