My mods are a bit cheaper than sixspeed's...

Flushed with success from the £7 stubby antenna, I bring you the £9.99 number plate holder.

Definitely not legal. I was tempted, but settled for the plate holder. The plates are available at http://www.german-number-plates.com/

stubby is from ebay seller mangowalk. Best to organize a group buy because the shipping is as much as the antenna if you order only one.

Ok thanks, i will get my younger bro to investigate, he is the ebay master in our family!

Love the number plate surround Carl. I take it you just have a self adhesive plate with the actual surround screwed on?

Well actually the plate just clips into the surround. You screw the surround onto the car (there are a couple of dents to locate the self-tappers), but I stuck some sticky stuff onto the edges so it was flush with the slightly curved surface, rather than just straight.

Just filled in the form to transfer the wife's personalized plate onto the car so I might use the opportunity to relocate the plate holder one 'notch' up.

Navigate around the German Number Plates site above and you should find them somewhere.

Yeh that was the cheapest at £8.83 delivered from U.SAM.

Petrol should be 5p cheaper at this per barrel price2008_09140020.jpg,,,suprised???? No

Love the plate have seen that before with those hardcore e36m3 chaps.

would the stubby work ok with the TV module? it shares the same aerial doesn't it ?

If it doesn't affect that, I'd join you..

I had a stubby on mine and it did seem to give a poorer reception for the radio. I couldn't get my new phone to link to the BMW and eventually swapped back to the original aeriel and it paired straight away. As I use a radio link for my I pod I haven't changed it back in case the sound suffers.

Stubby has no effect on Bluetooth telephone, there is a bluetooth antenna in the car, and the telephone aerial is fixed in the rear bumper.

..and it's only the AM radio aerial. FM is received via an aerial across the rear bumper cover too.
I can't recall where the TV aerail is but it will be obsolete pretty soon once the digital switchover takes place.
