My last week in Germany

Getting ready to fly back to the USA on July 13th. It's been a busy & stressful time over the last month. Our 17.5 year old cat had to be put down. Also had to prepare two cars for international shipment. The US department of agriculture has some very strict rules about not bringing dirt & dead bugs into the country. As a result, both my cars are now as clean as a surgical theater.
We have also been going through the house clearing out unneeded/unwanted items and there will be loads of final house cleaning to do once the packers have departed. It's amazing how quickly one can accumulate far too much useless crap. Glad this will be our last move.

Should take about 5 weeks for my Caterham & the wife's Mercedes to reach Seattle. Going to hire a car in the US during the 5 week wait for our cars. That will be cheap! The worst part of the move is having to live in a hotel kitchenette suite for 6-8 weeks till the folks renting our home move out. It will be good to be back in our own home.

Sorry to hear about your cat, we have a nearly 17yo who is very much part of the family, dreading that day....

So are you from the UK originally who has lived in Germany & now moving back home to Seattle?

Yes and no actually. We have enjoyed living in Europe immensely. And we owe our ability to have enjoyed our stay here to our wonderful German friends that live across the street from us.
They were always happy to look after our animals while we were traveling. They also helped us navigate the complex German bureaucracy that is the utility & Government services here. They are simply great people. We will miss them very much as well as "good old Germany"

But yes, We can't wait for the stress of moving to be gone.

Walla Walla is home. We just land in Seattle, Pick up the hire car and drive for 4.5 hours to the South East end of Washington. Known as the dry side, About 80% of the summer is dry and sunny. It can get hot though. But as they say, It's a dry heat as the typical humidity in summer is about 10% or less. If you like sun and dry red wine. Walla Walla is the place for you.
