My journey starts....

So I've just shaken hands on my new (to me) Z4 and I'm excited. More excited than I've been about any other car.

It's an '03 plate 3 litre in silver with 65k on and all the right stamps. Manual obviously. All looks as it should save a fair bit of oil around both sides of the front of the engine. Having done my homework on this great forum and having viewed/driven a few I'm fairly confident that it's the usual rc gasket and ofhg. Maybe new ccv and pipes. All taken into account on the price.

So those will be the first things I sort along with checking the roof drain holes, doing the vanos whilst I've got the valve cover off and checking the disa.

Fingers crossed that'll be me for a while.
Sale dependant on a clean MOT on Thursday. Roll on Thursday!

Hi, always a good idea to relocate the roof motor to the boot where it won't get drowned-few people on here do the job cheaply as well
Enjoy the drive home :driving:

Welcome to the forum OP.

I hope the MOT is a success, then you can stuck into your list of jobs.

Don't forget to les us have some photos though!

Yes I've noted the motor relocation mod although looks like a relatively pricey job as a preventative measure. Guess i assumed it was usually done after/if the original one failed and so the roof was off anyway.
I would've liked to hand got my hands on Eds car that was for sale as it looked like everything had already been done but someone else got there first.

It's done without removing the roof, the guys that do it have rubber arms & charge £80ish I think

Ah, interesting. Very good to know, thank you. Is that a rubber armed teddy with you in your signature?

I'm sitting here feeling very restless - just want to get it now. Mixture of excitement and nerves - guess that's the half of me that's full of pessimism!

Just sourcing the vanos repair kit, rcg and ofhg. Have lots of other questions but I'll have a good search before being lazy.

Welcome to the forum, remember the photos once you get it. Bank holiday weekend so fun times ahead.

Got my first Z4 coupe about 6 weeks ago 3.0 manual sport just love it always looking for an excuse to use itIMG_4325.JPG

Nice purchase, very jealous. The coupes do look stunning, really special, but I love a drop top. Plus a decent one is well out of my budget. My wife already thinks I'm mad getting a two seater with a four year old and a big dog. But that's what the camper van is for!

I make camper vans

So do I. Well not really. I have converted two panel vans though. The first was a VW T25 that I had for ten years. Only sold it because it was too small for the growing family. And last year i converted a Ducato. Very satisfying. Sort of a moto x conversion but for bikes and boards instead. And my lad loves his 'pirate' port hole windows in his elevated bed!

So it was out with the old....

And in with the new...

Drive home was fun but confirmed my suspicions that the run flats on the front will have to go! How BMW can sell cars with those on is beyond me.

And nice van interior by the way, very professional. I dread to think how many hours that takes you. I'll put some of my less professional ones on in a bit.
