I wanted to use my Ipod in my new Z, I did a similar thing in my other car but this is far more discrete and a much nicer job all for a tenner.
First buy own of these, it uses the digital out and converts it to a analog signal which can be put through a "aux" lead.

Buy a "aux in" lead and plug it in the back of your head unit.

I soldered wires directly onto the unit to negate the need for a cigarette lighter.

Tape it up, ensuring to cover the live connection at the end which otherwise would be connected inside the cigarette lighter socket.

Remove the plastic trim panel from the lower centre of the dash, this is just above the ash tray, it just pulls down. Cut a 37mm hole in it.

Push the Griffin Autopilot through, hold in place with tape and bond in place.

From the front it looks very good but it can't be see from inside the car.

To power the unit you will need an ignition switched live, I found an unused fuse outlet No 3 in the fuse box. I soldered a male spade to my red live and it just pushes in.

Make sure you run it through a fuse of some sort.

From inside the car it's quite discrete, it charges and goes off after the ignition is turned off.
I use the Ipod in shuffle, but you can use next, previous, fast back and forward, pause and play.

Looks good but nothing I would attempt. I use the aux and a cigarette lighter to charge my ipod which sits in the ashtray which does leave cables in the cabin.
