My Headlight Lenses are Peeling....?

Or they appear to be peeling. Anynoe else having this problem? WhenI bought the car from the dealership a year and a half ago, the headlights looked like they were fogged. After purchasing the car, the dealership made the headlights look like new. Now they are beginning to look like this.

The area that is "peeling" is dry and crusty.

Never seen that problem before, so don't know what to tell you...:idunno:
+1..
looks defective to me, I wonder what chemicals they used to "make them look like new"

After googling a bit, I found out about "Meguiar's PlastX" - Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish. So I drove up to my local wal-mart and bought a bottle. Wow- this stuff actually works pretty good. You can still see a fine line where the peeling is occuring, but overall I must say that I am pleased with this quick temporary fix. :)

I would not accept anything less then perfectly clear covers.....go back to your dealer and get them to do it right  .....but I like your temporary fix...still, my ass would be right back at the dealership!

I couldn't agree more. Nice if they did apply some sort of clear covers but not when they look like that.

I am on my way to discuss this matter with the dealership right now as well as my defective third break light.

I will let you know what they say.

After my trip to the dealership they told me that my warranty does not cover cosmetic flaws and it would be $1000 to fix the headlights. :x
And they told me that I would have to pay for the third break light as well since it's been over a year. :x

You can try a Micromesh kit from Microsurface Corporation, we use their kits to refinish aircraft windshields, they also have one to specifically refinish cars headlamps, I did it in my car with a good result, but we aware that you need a lot of elbow grease and a certain level of skill. After that, you can maintain the headlamps using Plastic X (very good product, I use it often)
