My G29 M40i Build

I’ve own my G29 for what will be 2 years in September. I was lucky to be in a position to buy new and I spec’ed a build slot and the long four months waiting for it to arrived started. We picked it up on 1/9/23. It’s been my daily throughout that time and I’ve covered 36k miles so far. Loved every minute of it.

Over the last six months I’ve been debating whether to keep it or try and get one of the last build slots for a Q1 2026 delivery. Sensibly I’ve decided to keep it and I’m fortunate that I can have a car through work so this will shortly become a garage queen.

So, I’ve always thought the car was pretty much there, but was missing that last 5% to make it in my eyes perfect.

I’ve always thought the following (other views are available but these are mine)

Slightly under wheeled for a M car.
Slightly sitting to high (common, just look at the M2)
Needed a bit more noise, but not excessive.
Lacked a bit of purpose in looks especially from the front and sides.

I’ve also thought if BMW were to build a Z4M G29 what would it look like.

My aim with the build below is to add that 5% making it OEM+ using parts closely affiliated to BMW’s heritage which is why gone the AC Schnitzer route for what I’m looking for.

So far the following has been added. All by ACS. expensive but you definitely get what you pay for. For example for the body work they use all the original mounting point with stainless steel screws.

ACS4 bicolour 20” alloys with PS4’s 8.5 front and 9 on the rear. So running the original tyre widths
ACS back box with carbon tips
ACS side skirts painted in BMW gloss black
ACS front splitter. Accents and centre support painted in body colour. Lower lip painted in BMW gloss black
ACS lowing springs. 20mm drop.

Small details

M performance carbon filler cap
M performance door pins
Red starter button

Couple of photos. As you can tell I’m not the best photographer.

So far I’m really pleased how it’s turned out and I’m glad I decided to keep it and make more “mine”.

Next I’m thinking. Black wing mirror caps and painting the rear defuser in the same gloss black. Then things like AC steering wheel, metal pedals and I drive wheel.

Thanks for looking. Comments, future modification ideas are welcome.

Be kind if it’s not for you.

Like the new front splitter and the back box looks really good, I'm not warming to the wheels sorry, 20" are too much alloy not enough tyre, combined with the 20mm it looks slammed.
