My first Z MOT history

Got a reminder for a Z that I sold in 2007 for an MOT and had a look at the history out of interest.

How does that mileage work then

I am pretty sure I saw this in a movie called Ferris beulers day off in the 80s.

No, it goes up from 30k upwards year by year so it seems to have lost that 40k

My thoughts were more that on the retest the tester made the mistype this year?

The change is in 2009, it then drops 40k and moves onwards to the current 135k.

I sold it in 2007

So it lost 40k miles in a week?

I was going to say a new speedo in 2009, but that doesn't make any sense, as surely it would have been zero not 30k miles?

Post the reg number, as it is confusing with the screenshots!

Also...how come you get MOT reminders? I don't get them for the cars I DO have, let alone the ones I don't!

The plate is GX04WNF.

I bought the car with my private plate on it, so it was assigned after I sold it. I have never had a reminder for this car as I sold it before it was 3 years old, so no idea why Vines suddenly start sending me reminders for it.

The delivery date corresponds with the date I got my first Z, and the colour is blue, so that is as far as I can see the right car. Huge miles on it though, but then in the first few years of its life I treated it well :D

Very bizarre. It failed it's Mot at 70k miles then was retested 6 days later at 30k miles!

I can't think of any other reason than it being clocked, but that would be stupid because of the dates.

So it should be on 177k now, not 137k!

The sequence of events is even stranger than that. It failed at 70,981 miles on 18/07/09:

and was retested on the same day and passed still showing 70,981 miles:

It was at an unnecessary further test six days later that it showed only 30,904 miles. Very odd.

Sounds like someone got it tested, gave it a haircut and then a retest to have a piece of paper with 30k showing as corroboration for the fake service history they probably sold it with. I don't think the online service existed in 2009 (or wouldn't have been widely used) so checking was limited to what bits of paper the owner presented to a buyer.

You’re probably right - I’d forgotten that MoT history wasn’t easily available on line 15 years ago
