hi there,

i have been on this forum for a while now, doing my research and finding out what the best products to use are.

I have just attempted a detail on my girlfriends black Z3, my car to follow soon if i get this one right. Unfortunatley i cant show any before pics, as she is away skiing with my camera, however i will post aftershots when she returns sat.

My process so far has taken me 2 days and was just hoping to see peoples comments to see if im on the right lines.

After spending nearly £300 at elite car care and i4 detailing my process is as follows,

WASHING

Rinse,
Snow Foam- Using Karcher Foam Lance ( not the best i know) however was pleasantly suprised.
Rinse
Wash- Megs Nxt Wash using 2 bucket method with a megs wash mit
Clay - Using megs clay with NXT speeed detailer as lube
Bilberry on wheels

Steam clean carpets and engine using new polti, with megs APC

POLISHING

Using a Kestral DAs6 i purchased with megs soft cutting pad i used,

Megs #80 - Dual action cleaner/polish

Then buffing pad

Megs #83-Mirror Glaze

I then washed the car to remove dust using Megs NXT and 2 bucket method

MORE POLISHING

Autoglym SRP on paintwork and wheels
Poorboys Wheel sealant (2 coats)

Finishing pad- Jet Seal 109 (2 coats)
Autoglym instant tyre dressing ( For tyres obviously)
Autoglym glass polish.
2 coats of collinite 476s

The car had a few bird poop marks on it, which i managed to wet sand down and polish out

Then to clean it all down afterwards i have dodo juice red mist (tropical )

Thanks for taking the time to read my post, My back is done in after all the polishing, my hat goes off to the pros.

The camera pics are not the best, but the battery was dying so i had to be quick.

Thanks for your time

Cheers chris

A lot of hard work but worth the fantastic results you got, been a few Zedders just recently who have done full detail on their cars so i should get round to doing mine got a meet coming up in march so would like to make a good impression.

i really dont hink the pics did it justice, it was a lot of effort, the last day was bright sunshine, today 4ins of snow ! its time for the car toget dirty again !

Nice work, her Z3 is very similar to my first one. Same seats, Black Sapphire, 3.0..Brings back fond memories being all shiny clean...

Z3 Looks superb top work mate

Why did you use SRP after a machine polish ?

Cannot comment on the machine process as i work by hand thats why i use SRP followed by EGP then my Wax.

Did you use the 109 on the wheels or body work ? supposed to be good on alloys.

Nice work mate, got das 6 and used it last yr/a decent bit of kit.
nedd to get mine done asap(come better wthr/-5dgrs c here!!)

i used jet seal on the body work only, as i used poorboys wheel seleant for the wheels. Jet seal i believe is just as good and can be used on most surfaces. The Autoglym SRP was a waste of time to be honest, i put it on to see if any difference was made and to be honest the machine polish had done all the work so there was no point.

Thats why i asked as SRP only fills swirls will not remove them but its fine when working by hand.

Have thought about machine polishing but working outside on a Silver car spotting swirls is hard and can only really see them in the sunlight at the right angle would make it a pain of a job and end up with a headache from the glare but Black is a different story nice and easy to spot any swirls or fine scratches.

Bought a Brinkmann torche they rave about on Detailing world for swirl spotting but still not any better

Looks great, nice flake pop where the paint has a little gold look about it. 8)

Excellent finish. This was my plan for the weekend (freezing conditions stopped play). I assume the foam lance attaches into a jet washer ???? Could that not damage the paint ???

The foam lance is a karcher one and it clips straight it, it doesnt damage the paintwork in any way ? i dont qquite see how you think it can ?.

The wetsanding is quite safe if you use the right paper, it does llok scary once sanded, but it polishes straight back out and gets rid of any bird remains.
